Marc by Marc Jacobs Store Opens in Madrid
October 20, 2008
Marc Jacobs International president Robert Duffy apparently wants to conquer the world, well europe with the opening of the first Marc by Marc Jacobs store in Spain right after the new Paris, London, Moscow, Athens, Copenhagen, Istanbul stores.
WWD report that “the 1,722-square-foot store, a glass-enclosed corner on Calle Marqúes de la Ensenada in a less-than-shop-heavy area of downtown Madrid, is one-and-a-half levels and was designed by Jacobs’ architect Stephan Jaklitsch. The space features low bench-like seating, shades of blue and ice gray, an oversize peace sign, lacquered metal display cases and industrial air-conditioning. The store carries a full range of women’s, men’s, children’s, accessories, fragrances and special item collections.”
According to Duffy there will be special limited items only available in the Madrid store! “ole”!
Prada II LG Phone
October 20, 2008
Finally a full keyboard! Looks like LG wants some bite to back up the PRADA II’s bark. The phone features a 5-megapixel autofocus cam, wide QVGA display, HSDPA 850 / 2100, motion sensing, an FM radio, and a WiFi radio for those poor US souls who find themselves surrounded by more 1900MHz 3G than 850. Would you let go your iPhone for this fashion phone? Does the iPhone even more hipper than that?
Madonna With Chanel Paris Miami Cruise 2009 Killer Heels
October 17, 2008
Stepping out onto the red carpet for the premiere of her film Filth and Wisdom , Madonna donned a pair of shoes that were right on target. The pop star turned film director flashed a pair of Chanel platform shoes with tiny guns holding up her feet. These Chanel shoes are part of the upcoming Chanel Cruise 2009 Paris Miami Collection.
Karl Lagerfeld was taken with the image of a gun and passed the idea along to shoe designer for the label Laurence Decade, who created the fiery footwear. I’m going to predict Angelina Jolie orders at least 5 pairs of these in varying shades of black–but with bullets .
The 50-year-old singer managed to steal the limelight on the red carpet from the young attendees who included Lindsay Lohan with her Darryl Hannah from Splash hair and a short black dress, sketchy Taylor Momsen and some more young, nubile members of the Gossip Girl gang.
Anti-gun campaigners have denounced Madonna as ‘irresponsible’ and ‘utterly senseless’ for choosing such a design at a time when violent crime involving guns is soaring.
A Bit Of Tokyo In Paris
October 17, 2008
While we were in Paris for Spring Summer 2009 Fashion Week, we passed by The Palais de Tokyo going back home. The Palais de Tokyo is the Paris’s Art Modern Museum. We decided to stop by and maybe get a drink to relax from Fashion Week crazyness. We got there around 11 pm and we’ve been really surprised by this place’s laid back atmosphere. The restaurant/bar has a very ceilings and from the window you can see the Eiffel Tower (it was blue that night!).
I decided to get a Rio Bamako which is Cachaca (brazilian rhum) + lime and gingember juice.
My fashion week buddy/co-worker decided to get a Tokyoalapassion (Tokyo a la passion) wich is Vodka + Passion juice + Madarine liquor and Peach syrop.
we haven’t tried the food cause during fashion week we don’t eat!
We had a great time! So if you go to Paris pass by you won’t regret it.
Palais Tokyo houses the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (11 Avenue du President Wilson, 16th M° Alma-Marceau or Iéna Tel 01 53 67 40 80)

Louis Vuitton RTW Spring Summer 2009
October 5, 2008
October 5th 2008 – Cour Carree du Louvre
For its show, Louis Vuitton transforms the tranquil open court space into a two-three floor paneled structure stretching out nearly 400 yards in every direction. Rushing through cobblestone steps filled with photogs and onlookers, we quickly flashed our invitations to the PR folks at the door. Up through the dark steps and around the bleechers we went, looking for our row seating.
As opposed to the year before’s show, there were fewer celebs sitting front row. Aside from a the famous series of journalists magazine editors, we could neigh find a Lenny Kravitz or a Dita Von Teese sitting adjacent to Julia Restoin Roitfeld. Alas, we tucked our invite away and chatted up with the ladies from Vogue everywhere – Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Latin America, etc. It was like a U.N. Council meeting except with a lot more sass.
The décor was strewn with bamboo and grain, the runway being lifted to shoulder level for the front-rowers (a classic Parisian setup as opposed to the on-the-floor American runway). Overhead, we could hear Edith Piaf‘s classic melodies sweetening the air, bringing a smile to everyone’s faces. This was going to be about Paris, but the African backdrop clued us that this would not be any standard fare.
The lights dimmed and in flash the girls came out, in gorgeous silhouettes that looked as if Marc had taken every spice of texture and fabric and married it to couture for the street. Paris meets Africa meets Street Chic meets Marc Jacobs’s personal S/S ’09 collection. And while we could see pieces of MJ’s NY showing, the harmonizing of big hair, leopard print bags, tassled hobos, jungle-inspired pumps with brilliant short skirts caught the audience off guard – but in a good way.
No sooner had the show started than we started to get up to head backstage. Many folks forked either into the backstage area or ran to Lanvin’s showing. We had had enough for this Paris Fashion Week and trotted past the well-placed bamboo sticks to follow Marc into the Q&A photogs area. With a glass of champagne in one hand and a truffle-paté bouché in another, we listened carefully as a cool, collected, slick back hair-in-suit MJ describe in a clear, but detracted manner the inspiration for this collection, à la Yves St. Laurent’s Opium pieces. With interviewers declaring that this was his best collection ever, all you could see is MJ’s adorable grin, as if he heard a joke that only he knew. Every collection is the “best” he must think. But you could see that it’s not being the best that interests him – it’s the challenge of the “next” that gets him up in the morning.

Hermes Spring Summer RTW 2009
October 4, 2008
October 4th 2008 – Espace Eiffel – Quai Branly
The Hermès RTW Spring Summer 2009 show took place at the Espace Eiffel tent on Le Quai Branly, at the foot of the tourist trap Eiffel Tower. Nestled right in front of the creperie in the front, the Espace Eiffel stood out like a sore thumb amongst the throngs of tourists snapping pics of both the tower and the fashion mayhem ensuing out front.
StyleRumor.com and Co. barely had any time to make it back to our hotel room before we flew out the door and into the first Mercedes Benz cab we could find. Around the rotary at Trocadéro we went, racing down to Kennedy Blvd and over the Pont Iéna to make it just in time. Outside, the crowds were in a tussle after Ms. Jane Birkin made an appearance, in relaxed Levi denim jeans and a simple cashmere sweater no less. She smiled gleefully as onlookers pelted her with the flashes of their Nikon D40′s and Canon Point-and-Shoots. Even the Parisian locals took out their cellphone’s to snap a pic of Jane, if anything to document the madness at the scene.
After a generous and slow walk into the tents, Jane ducked behind the doors and to her seat. As we flashed our Hermès red leather square swatch invitation to the guard, an Hermès PR girl with a headmic rushed over to us and pointed us to quickly take our seats. Unlike some other showings during the day, Jean Paul Gautier was going to do his best to start on time.
No sooner did we walk in did we notice how packed the tent was. Like a scene out of Marc Jacobs’ infamous 2,000+ bleacher Armory showing, the crowd inside was energized and raucous as ever. Many were drawn to walk on the catwalk, which interestingly enough was like something out of a Hollywood set: sand and cactuses lined the catwalk, transporting one to the back roads of New Mexico’s Route 66.
Soon the lights dimmed and chatter screeched to halt as the scene drew focus to top model Stephanie Seymour‘s entrance. With a blue sky backdrop and sultry western track playing, her white, V-chest, black belt accented dress danced around her curves like a soft tango. No sooner did she make her powerful entrance than did we see what can only be the true eye-catching star of the show: Miss Naomi Campbell.
It was only a matter of time before all the fringe we’ve seen this season went West. Sure enough, it was down to Jean Paul Gaultier to rustle it up in full buckskin glory, across the cactus-strewn desert sands of the Hermès runway. Naturally, this cowgirl is quite the chicest, classiest example of her kind ever to don a Stetson, and her fringe-swishing posse was led out by none other than Stephanie Seymour and Naomi Campbell.
Only a branded thoroughbred as sure-footed as an Hermès filly could possibly tread this trail with such a sense of fun. The accessories were all-out amazing: soft suede riding boots, mirrored aviators, driving/riding gloves, slim crocodile envelope clutches, handheld canvas-and-leather suitcases, and even a fringed Kelly (JPG Kelly which will be a Hit bag for the next season).
Gorgeous deep purple or green gowns worn with a pair of Daim boots is the look for this summer. We also love the cashmere ponchos.
The audience was treated to a classic Naomi moment. As she finished her last passage down the catwalk to end the showing, Naomi, upon doing her pose at the media riser line, turns back toward the runway exit, and in one fell swoop throws her Hermès gaucho hat into the crowd. Everyone cheered like as if we were at a baseball game, happy that at least something in Fashion Week is worth writing home to.
Stephanie, Naomi and Jean Paul Gaultier closed out the show with kisses and smiles, with Gautier running up and down the catwalk like a gleeful 10 year old. The lights dim out and everyone heads backstage. As we headed toward JPG, we found ourselves next to Ms. Birkin herself. She was chatting up with the crowd, describing all of the trinkets she’s attached to her well-worn Birkin. As humble as she is, she still was even more generous enough to take a couple of photos with us below.
Jane Birkin always teaches us that kindness and generosity are never out of style.

Emanuel Ungaro RTW Spring Summer 2009 by Esteban Cortazar
October 1, 2008
October 1st 2008 – Carrousel Du Louvre –
Esteban Cortazar dedicated the show to his father, Valentino Cortazar, and printed his dad’s letters on the carpet runway (see pictures). All the models were wearing panama hats, the collection was a sucession of cocktail dresses which Ungaro is know for “it’s a dresses house” said Esteban Cortazar when asked about why so many dresses.
Esteban has respected the “codes”of the french house using printed silk patterns and Ungaro known shapes. The Spring Summer 2009 Ungaro girl is a french jet set girl in Miami.
Anna Wintour and Nina Garcia were there to support Esteban.
