Richie Rich Fall Winter 2009 Collection
February 28, 2009
Wednesday February 18, 2009 – Waldorf Astoria – Grand Ballroon -
“Blondes Have More Fun!” was the theme of the show, but by “Blondes” we didn’t expect to be blown off by the final Blonde surprise.
The collection was a succession of “summer” looks, bathing suit, garden dress and printed 60′s shaped inspired dress featuring the hot new Richie Rich print.
Social Tinsley Mortimer, Aubrey O’Day, Kat Deluna, CariDee English and Amanda Lepore walked the runway .
The big surprise was at the end of the show, we were waiting for Richie Rich to come out when we saw Pamela Anderson hitting the Catwalk. She was wearing a gold one piece bathing suit.

Erin Wasson x RVCA Fall Winter 2009 Presentation
February 27, 2009
Wednesday February 18th – 10 pm – Milk Studio
We particularly love Erin Wasson, not only because she is from our generation but more because she is natural, spontaneous, fresh, funny, honest … and talented.
We missed the Spring Summer 2009 Presentation that took place also at the Milk Studio last year so we really wanted to make it this time.

We arrived around 10 pm, we were coming from the Richie Rich Fall Winter 2009 Show (with Pamela Anderson on surprise guest).
By the time we arrived the presentation looked more like a party with Belvedere Vodka designed By Andre as a sponsor. We quickly found Erin that was already hanging out with everyone.

Leighton Meister, Alexander Wang, Coco Rocha (with E Canada), Cory Kennedy came to see the collection. Even Stravos made an appearance hidden under a Hood sweater. The mutual influence between Erin Wasson and Alexander Wang is clear. We found some Erin Wasson influences looks at Alexander Wang Fall Winter 2009 Show and vice versa.

The presentation started with a succession of rock’n roll look, very SoCal, totally Erin. Short denim shorts, Leather jackets, biker boots, tee shirt dresses, ripped jeans… the good news about the collection is that the prices will go from $20 to $100.

Giorgio Armani 5th Avenue Store Opening Party
February 27, 2009
Wednesday February 18th 2009 – 717 5th Avenue – 8 pm
Giorgio Armani literally landed his world on fifth avenue. For the first time in the US all the Armani brands are reunited under one roof. We were amazed by the architectural structure of the store, “these stairs are amazing” said Molly Sims while going to the upper level. Unless other brand’s store the Armani store has a very New York spirit. The designer’s 43,000-square-foot store is another symbol of the strength of his business. Although the global economy has nose-dived since the designer’s announcement to invest here a year ago, Armani has no regrets. That said, mirroring the gloomy times, he decided to nix a post-opening bash complete with a runway show and dinner,The opening party.
The top floor was crowded with all the celebrities posing with Giorgio Armani, we ran into Victoria Beckham who’s the newest face of the Emporio Armani Underwear campaign.
See below our pictures of Ricky Martin, Molly Sims, Natalia Viodanova, Alicia Keys and Milla Jovovich that we met in the restaurant area.

Diane Von Furstenberg Fall Winter 2009 Collection
February 26, 2009

Sunday February 15th – 4 pm – The Tent at Bryant Park -
If the current recession is any indicator of the willingness of shoppers to hold back on spending, they might have a harder time doing so after viewing DVF‘s upcoming Fall 2009 Collection. Set against a desert backdrop (not too unlike Hermès’s Spring Summer 2009 cactus and sand runway show), Diane brought to life the Fall collection with a nomadic theme. The message? Your clothing, if layered properly, can be as soft and snug as your home.
When asked about this upcoming season’s inspiration, Diane explained “This collection is called ‘nomad’. Wherever she goes, she belongs. Her clothes are her friends.” Diane continued to explain that much of the inspiration was drawn from her travels in the Middle East. She eloquently mentioned “The inspiration for this collection was also to give women real clothes, comfy warm pieces. The colors are drawn from the desert tones.” And if we’ve learned anything from the whole Snuggies phenomenon, comfy clothing is a formula for success.
From the first look, we were treated to soft leopard prints, large Gobi-desert puffed hats with flowery ruffles, mocha tone tops, layered sweaters over evening dresses, all giving the effect of slim, elongated silhouettes. Accessories such as bright orange & violet coral necklaces and ruby vermilion clutches added delightful bursts of color against the backdrop of autumn colors.

Julia Restoin Roitfeld was sitting in the front row next to Katharibe McPhee (in Fall Winter 08 DVF), Purple’s Olivier Zahm was chatting with Paris Vogue’s Carine Roitfeld, while Carlos de Souza and Tatiana Santo Domingo were watching Fabiola Beracasa taking pictures for her Fashion Diary for Interview Magazine. We were pleased to see Marisa Berenson again after seeing her at the Patrick McMullan 20th anniversary with Interview Magazine few days before. Long time Diane’s friend Loulou De La Falaise was here well. Natalia Vodianova came also to support the designer.

Marchesa Fall Winter 2009 Collection
February 26, 2009
Wednesday February 18th 2009 – Chelsea Art Museum
For Fall 2009, Marchesa brings a touch of enchantment to a collection full of Misty colors and airy textiles.
Layers upon layers of pleated tulle and silk chiffon ruffles coalesce lightly with streams of smoky lavender, scarlet and hazy gray.
Shooting stars from throughout various pieces and ribbons are draped lightly over silhouettes. Embroideries cascade down long sleeves and voluminous tulle skirts while dreamy sequins and delicate lace bring a fairytale feel to life.
Natalia Vodianova, Diane Kruger, and Joy Bryant were all amazed by the delicate work on these gowns. “I wanted the whole thing to be like a fairy tale,” explained Marchesa‘s designer, Georgina Chapman. “I wanted to have fantasy.”

Alexander Wang Fall Winter 2009 Collection
February 26, 2009
Saturday February 14th 2009, 5pm – Roseland Ballroom

The line to enter the Roseland ballroom on 52th street was going all around the street. “which broadway show is the line for” said a women passing by. By the time we’ve got inside we realised that it was going to be a lot of fun, loud late 90′s music, tequila chocolate / tropical topped with Champagne was distributed before the show. Anna Wintour was with her daughter Bee Schaffer, Diane Von Furstenberg came to support Alexander Wang that is CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund’s latest big winner, describing Wang as the most exciting desiner of the moment.

Sarah Jessica Parker was saying that she usually doesn’ come to fashion shows but she loves Alexander Wang’s clothes this is why she is here. Julia Restoin Roitfeld was chatting with Lauren Santo Domingo while Zoe Kravitz and Santogold was posing for photographers.
“This is the type of clothes I love, this is totally me, rock’n roll and confortable” said Erin wasson when asked about Alexander clothes’s Style.

Natasha Polly opened the show wearing a tailored jacket with custom rivet with Michael Jackson’s Thriller on the background. The collection was a succession of 90′s 40 sexy look that everyone will die to get once the collection hit the stores.

We particularly like the wooly demi-cuff cut-out dress with the digital ottoman biker leggings worn by the second model Hannelore, the black metallic croc combat hi-top, the poplin off the shoulder dress, the black oversized leather jacket with saga fox fringe tails, the stretch suede and leather combo cropped leggings, the crystallized Swarovski endless scarf worn by Lily Donaldson, Isabeli Fontana and Trish for the final looks. We overall loved the metal, gunmetal accents on the clothes.

All the looks were perfectly accessorized with beautiful pieces such as the vertebrae earring, desert hats, black velvet combat boots with crystallized swarovski detail, shark cuff and the line of bags made of nappa lambskin leather.

“She wants to have fun, she likes to go out, she is living the time of her life” Said Alexander Wang backstage with Swarovski like sparkling eyes about his girl hitting the runway.

Rag & Bone Fall Winter 2009 Collection
February 24, 2009
Friday February 13th 2009 – 5 pm – Cedar Lake
“Samurai and Star Wars” was the inspiration confessed Marcus Wainwright and David Neville. We felt the Samourai part not quite the Star Wars inspiration. The collection was a succession of dark looks with a red accent. we really like the first look which was a Black Leather & Wool Fencing Jacket with a Schoeller Basketweave Kilt (worn by Anna Jagodzinska), the Ninja Men’s pants, the Denim Legging, the Leather Legging, the Black Wool Armor Dress With Metal Sequins. Anna Wintour was next to Hamish Bowles, few seat away Julia Restoin Roitfeld was snapping pictures with Genevieve Jones who was doing her fashion diary for interview magazine. Becki Newton & Chris Diamantopoulos were posing for photographers while Jimmy Fallon was talking to a reporter. We catched up with model Isabeli Fontana that we met the night before at the Victoria Secret Party told us that she loved the collection and wanted to keep all the Rag & Bone Clothes. Rachel Zoe and five crew member (Make Up Artist, a photographer, camcorder + Brad Goreski and Taylor) was saying that her airline company left her luggage in LA and that it was a desaster since she had clients counting on her here in NY for fashion week. Was this part of the “Rachel Zoe Project” script? At least the crew was filming her every moves.

Custo Barcelona Fall Winter 2009 Collection
February 19, 2009

Thursday February 19, 2009 – Promenade – Bryant Park
Some say that the winter season is dark and boring. Custo Barcelona showed us the contrary by delivering a colorful and joyful Fall Winter 2009 collection. Need a coat and some color in your life? Check out Cutso Barcelona’s collection and you’ll understand that come this Fall, your dreary, black jacket needs some color patchworks and sequins.
Another trend for the Fall Winter 2009 were the gloves. Where we saw sequin gloves at Louis Vuitton, and leather gloves at Elie Saab, Custo Barcelona‘s models enticed us with lace gloves that added a sexy, delicate look.
We were drawn to the chiffon floral long cape dress with amiral pearl shoulders, the silk 1920′s inspired sequins dress with a deep V collar, some sequin leggings and the men’s military boots.
Matching the eclectic collection were a potpourri of celebs and socialites in the front row. We spotted Tinsley Mortimer, Aubrey O’Day, Olympic Gold Medalist Ryan Lochte, and even Miss USA’s Crystle Stewart taking in the collection.
