“Gentlemen Butterflies” was the theme of the Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2010 Collection. Paul Helbers found his inspiration from the bike messengers of New York City. The bright orange neon touches and yellow cab colored shoes refers to the city that never sleeps. Rolled up pants and shorts, cropped pants “because he’s on a bike and doesn’t want to dirt his pants” said Paul Helbers backstage. Biker jackets, lurex bow ties, metallic shoes, fluorescent buttons on jacket cuffs and neon heels on pointy shoes. Burberry Prorsum Resort 2010 Collection
June 6, 2009

Keeping true to his modern version of the house’s story, Christopher Bailey turned out a youthful cruise lineup for Burberry Prorsum. Trenches came with ribbon appliqués, pleats and in shredded silk versions. For his day separates, there were puff sleeve blouses, slouchy pleat trousers, fine-knit cardigans and T-shirts with rolled sleeves. For feminine flair, Bailey showed ruched-bodice frocks, knits with knotted details and Regency-style puff-sleeved dresses.
In men’s wear, Christopher Bailey offered a simplified variation on his mantra of disheveled elegance that was cleansed of pattern, color and superfluous layering. Athletic-inspired outerwear tempered the poetic pauvre-chic of patchwork knits, stretched T-shirts and carrot-leg trousers.

Esteban Cortazar To Leave Ungaro?
June 5, 2009

WWD reveals that according to sources, the French fashion house plans to let go creative director Esteban Cortazar. Conflicts might have happened between the designer and the marketing and adverstising direction.
We learned a couple of days ago that Ungaro wanted to hire Lindsay Lohan as a creative consultant for the brand. Mounir Moufarrige, Ungaro’s chief executive officer, is said to be insisting to get a celebrity has the new Ungaro face for the fall 09 in order to get ore attention. It has been confirmed that Lohan is indeed a candidate but not in the design team.
Ungaro has not done a campaign to promote the women’s ready to wear for years. For a brand a campaign is a way to get more exposure, not only as ad in a magazine but also in editorial as fashion editor would rather pick up clothes from an advertiser than from a brand not advertising in the magazine.
Moufarrige is a character and is known for having taken some surprising decisions in the past such as replacing Karl Lagerfeld with Stella McCartney as the designer of Chloe in 1997.
It’s Esteban Cortazar third season and each season has been very well received.

On Mai April 30 2009 Louis Vuitton re-opened its Louis Vuitton Deauville store in Normandie, France. The store has been reshaped and even received a new name: the Villa Vuitton.

Limited Edition Louis Vuitton Deauville Neverfull
Louis Vuitton celebrated the opening but also the 20th anniversary of Louis Vutton presence in Deauville. “Deauville is to Paris what the Hamptons are to New York” brags Hugues Bonnet-Masimbert, Directeur Général of Louis Vuitton France.
“Deauville is one of many france’s luxurious getaway such as St Tropez, St Morritz… The context, the atmosphere is ideal for our brand”, declared Antoine Arnault.

The 960-square-foot boutique is typical of Normandy architecture and carries accessories and leather goods over two floors. The store decoration reflect the spirit of travel, Louis Vuitton modernity and tradition.

Louis Vuitton Mon Monogram, My Very Own Monogram
June 2, 2009

Louis Vuitton Mon Monogram Speedy,Keepall & Pegase. Photos/Style: Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele.
Louis Vuitton has always been an expert when it comes to travelling in luxury. And over the years, LV has extended that craftsmanship to produce a vast array of fine leather goods, adding a touch of chic to every imaginable accessory one would ever need.
Take for example the Louis Vuitton Speedy bag and the Keepall travel bag, these two classic bags have become iconic luxury staples that everyone simply wants and needs. And while these two iconic bags have been around for quite some time, they still tend to attract the most attention, especially since they’re often re-invented by Louis Vuitton Artistic Director Marc Jacobs every season.
Since 2008, the brand has continued to marry tradition & modernity by offering its personalization service called “Mon Monogram”. Always keeping to its roots, Louis Vuitton has continuously offered the possibility to personalize one’s accessory, a tradition that dates back for over century. This personalization happens by way of a painting service that was once only available to Trunks and hard-sided luggage. This made to order technique is now available for the Speedy and the Keepall.
More importantly, the Mon Monogram personalization makes your bag unique. A set of two-tone initials of up to three letters, either vertical or diagonal stripes, or through a combination of both initials and stripes that are chosen from a range of 17 different colors resulting in more than 200 million possible combinations per bag. And given the popularity of the Speedy and Keepall, the Mon Monogram service will certainly make such iconic bags stand out from the rest of the crowd.

The Mon Monogram will also solve those awkward moments at airport carousels where someone else picks up your Keepall thinking it’s their own (unless of course they have your initials and know your favorite colors). Mon Monogram is available in all Speedy Keepall travel bag sizes.
And starting as of June 1st, 2009, this service will also be extended to the iconic Pégase 55 suitcase in both classic and business versions. The stores that offer “Mon Monogram” (over 100 stores in all) feature a computer so the clients can create the “Mon Monogram” of their dream and visualize exactly how their bag will look.

Once their choice has been made their order is then sent directly to one of the Louis Vuitton workshops where their personalised unique Monogram bag is created and hand assembled.
The fabrication of the Mon Monogram can take from six to eight weeks.

J.M. Weston Humeurs Exhibit or how to combine tradition and modernity
June 1, 2009

Kris Van Assche's dream shoes by J.M Weston
Humeurs Exhibition – Wednesday, May 13th 6pm – The Flag Art Foundation
I use to walk by the Avenue Victor Hugo J.M Weston store in Paris to go to school. Even at a early age the shoe maker was through my eyes the ultimate luxury shoe maker.
J.M Weston is for the shoes what the Rolls is for the cars, what the Hermes Birkin is for the bags.
I can imagine the excitement that Frank Gehry, Martin Szekely, Kris Van Assche, Clemence Krzentowsky, and Michel Perry have had when they’ve been asked to create the shoes of their dream.
It reminds me of the Louis Vuitton logo 100th anniversary celebration. Seven designers have been asked by Louis Vuitton to create new objects with the monogram canvas. Azzedine Alaïa, Manolo Blahnik, Helmut Lang, Isaac Mizrahi, Romeo Gigli, Vivienne Westwood, and Sybilla all created limited edition pieces.
What more desirable than having a carte blanche to design a pair of shoes with no limitation of skin choices, shape, decorations.
Frank Gehry the man who defined architecture in the 20th century, Martin Szekely multi-facette artist, Kris Van Assche Dior Homme designer, Clemence Krzentowsky and Michel Perry known for his pleated leather shoes, had the honor to unveil what their dream shoes would be and let the J.M. Weston artisans transformed the dream to reality.
In addition J.M Weston asked five photographers to stage these special orders. The result is the marriage of Claudine Doury, Harry Gruyaert, Karen Knorr, Martin Parr and Lise Sarfati photographers’s univers with the five designers.
A question came to my mind when I left the exhibition.
How to combine tradition, Art and modernity?
The J.M Weston Humeurs Exhibition is the answer.

We bumped onto Tyson Beckford and his lovely fiance Shanina Shaik that we met in frebruary at the Victoria Secret What is Sexy Party. Tyson confessed to us his weakness when it comes to J.M. Weston shoes.
All seven styles in the collection are on display in the J.M. Weston store in New York and available for special order through the end of the year, for $2,300 to $3,400.
