Limi Feu Spring Summer 2010 Collection

Limi Yamamoto’s Spring Summer 2010 Collection was a celebration of japanese fashion, some said it was inspired by Yohji Yamamoto but in fact the collection had all the Japanese modern fashion codes such as the black & white look, well adjusted oversized jackets, polka dots and classic mocassins. A succession of looks showed high waisted dresses with volume toward the end. Limi put some polka dot on denim, a classic white shirt but in poncho shape or also a jacket with a incorpored cape on the back.

The collection was unisex beside the dresses, all the black and white looks could have been seen on men and vice versa. Limi added a rebellious touch with the accessories, punk spiked bracelet, spiked head band.

Everyone smilled when one of the models brought up a Yorkshire dog with him on the runway, the dog had a perfect model attitude and stopped for photographers.

Tim Van Steenbergen Spring Summer 2010 Collection

The collection Spring Summer 2010 by Tim Van Steenbergen starts from the late 18th century ‘the Shaker world”.  This community of remarkable people developed a well-defined aestetic sense dominated by harmony in nature, utility and refinement in design an daily life.

The collection shows wrapped pants and shorts, cross over bolero jackets and shoulder draped jersey dresses. The looks paint a story that happened in the past but with a modern spirit. We loved the retro beachwear, and high tech lingerie worn with a zippered bolero. All garments are finished with couture ribbons, luxurious buttons and detailed insides.

The collection also featured a series of handbags, shoulder bags, collars, belts and corset belts. The models were also wearing the new sunglasses line “Theo by Tim Van Steenbergen” and shoes “Tim Van Steenbergen handmade by Ambiorix”.

Moon Young Hee Spring Summer 2010 Collection

It would only make sense that on a bright, crisp Paris Fashion Week morning, Moon Young Hee would delight the audience with an effortlessly relaxed and fresh Spring Summer 2010 Collection.

Floating down the runway in Repettos, it was a youthful collection inspired by ballerinas but it’s finer points were found in Moon’s reinterpretation of the classic stripped men’s shirt.

One look at this collection and you can tell that there two types of girlfriends in the world: those that simply borrow their boyfriend’s jeans and then you have the MYH girlfriend that can make a mini dress magically appear from a boyfriend’s shirt.

Transparencies, volume, and asymmetry gave the collection an airy, optimistic feel while the short cut dresses added a touche of edgy chic. The collection was purely sensual and not sexual. Though there were some pieces with revealing, transparent cleavage, you wouldn’t expect anything less from a Paris runway show.

Tommy Hilfiger Spring Summer 2010 Collection

Thursday September 17th, 2009 – The Tent at Bryant Park

For the Spring Summer 2010 collection, Tommy Hilfiger re-imagines the relaxed glamour of a southern California boardwalk. Dreamt up for a lifestyle that is as chic as it is casual. The clothes are unpretentious but Captivating. Structured meet flow as materialks like canvas, twill and leather coexist with featherweight jerseys and silks; loose pants are paired with tailored jacket with a bit of a strong shoulder; and shorts are mixed with billowy tops.

The women’s collection is a palette comprising neutrals and distinct shades of blue, from azure to a tantalizing swimming pool. The colors of sunset-pops of carmine, pink and peach. Also appear amid an assortment of nautical stripped pieces. Breezy jodhpurs and crisp pocket shorts. For evening, nonchalant sophistication reigns with long, simple cotton dresses perfectly accented with rope sandals and metallic details. Accessories, from nostalgic macrame and clip-link belts, classic desert boots with a toe cut-out and colorful green and white sunglasses to full-cut bandeaux and maillots for swimwear, suggest the playful sexiness inherent to the beach.

Sharing the same roots and palette as the women’s collectionis the men’s line. A dashing pastiche of liberated silhouettes with bright colors. Pants are fuller and shirts are more open. In a departure from traditional preppy rules, where shorts are worn with loafers and a polo, shorts are shown with boots and a sweater. Workwear comes in interesting twills, traditional shirts and elegant single and double-breasted suits. A lighter sensibility comes into play as well with knit stripped ties.

Diane Von Furstenberg Spring Summer 2010 Collection

“Looking into Antiquirty … for effortless beauty” Diane on Furstenberg.

“Rising like a phoenix, the Spring Summer 2010 DvF woman is a modern myth, the queen of the desert, a true adventurer“.

Seems familiar? The Fall Winter 2009 DvF collection painted us a “Nomade” girl, wherever she goes she belong as long as she has her friends with her ( Diane sees cltohes as friends).

Last summer she was a goddess, now she is a rebellious princess with pieces of gold in her hair . The Fall Winter 2009 DvF girl had plenty of layers on her, she is now wearing cotton voile, chiffon animal multicolor dresses. An Oasis paint as runway backdrop, we are already transported in DvF Spring Summer 2010 world.  Diane talks about antiquity but the woman she dresses is from 2010, “her girl” wears a wrap dress with a Tee shirt under.

Master when it comes to dress women, Diane showed more accessories this season. Bracelets, necklaces, clutches, bags… these neon stripes wooded bracelets were on every lips after the show.

The first look was wearing a bathing suit and sunglasses, quite the best moment to remind the crowd that DvF launched a line of sunglasses .

One of our favorite looks were a desert yellow macrame beaded dress worn by Abbey & a blue anatolia embellished chiffon dress. Almost all the looks are dresses and yes these dresses are also everyday working looks said Diane backstage, “you can wear a dress with pieces of sequins & the right jacket, you won’t look overdressed to go to work.”

Diane is so in love with Oasis right now that she even has one on her skirt.

Alexander Wang Spring Summer 2010 Collection

September 12, 2009 – Pier 94

“American football, jocks, high school & college” were the words Alexander Wang used backstage to describe his inspiration for the Spring Summer 2010 show. Nods to Varsity life were clearly in abundance; even the beauty and hair look boards looked like a sports yearbook.

Reinterpreting classic Sports Americana, Wang’s collection looked as if a few high school cheerleaders traded in their pompoms for their varsity boyfriend’s sports gear.
And yet for all its masculine sports motifs, there was always more than enough feminine hues to make it über-sexy. It was as if Wang took a granite rock concept that is the American male jock, and sculpted a feminine silhouette in its place. Clearly skilled in the art of effortless tailoring, pieces such as classic gray sweatshirts married to corsets and ribbed knee-high athletic socks with cut out backs left one thinking that mens clothing does look sexier on women. And you could easily tell that the front row was pleased with Wang’s execution; one walk from Frankie Rayder in an oversized sweatshirt with pleated leather shoulder pads left many magazine editors itching to get that piece in their Spring editions.

By giving ‘varsity pinup’ an edge that only Alex could, it’s no wonder the world is turning to him for new inspiration. Carine Roitfeld, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, friend Erin Wasson, photographers Terry Richardson, Inez van Lamsweerde, and Vinoodh Matadin could be seen front row, often times smiling but more importantly, attentively gazing, their visages painted in the color few rarely see called “amazement”.

Nicole Miller Spring Summer 2010 Collection

Sexy was the overarching mood, with graphic cutouts and sheer paneling put to good effect (especially on a wear-with-everything black chiffon tank). This was body con that wasn’t too “body”: a marketable idea, surely.
There was an appealing versatility in a series of side-draped dresses in prints and solids—they could be one thing with flats and quite another with, say, a caged gladiator bootie. But the best pieces were the simplest, like a scuba-stretch dress in charcoal gray, the designer’s favorite color of the moment.

Spurr Spring Summer 2010 Collection

Though the collection was shown in New York last week, its spirit is in Capri, Italy. We easily pictured these men with shirts open, the sun beating down on their chests. This season’s inspiration? “Vintage Helmut Newton photographs” an emphatic Simon Spurr told us.

Unlike for women, men’s clothing often seems mundane, never straying too far from a set of styles. To shake up the status quo, Spurr took classic denim and reinvented it, using it not only for sportswear pieces but on trenches and vests as well. The color palette is soft but masculine, with mustard, salmon and cream hues. With a flower pinned to some model’s suits (perhaps a cheeky nod to prom suits for the Spring?), the Spurr man is easily a romantic.

We were especially delighted to see a selection of colored pipe leg jeans in mustard, cream, vintage denim, worn rolled up with espadrilles and cashmere v neck. Double-breasted jackets, linen salmon suits are accessorized with over-sized deerskin leather weekend bags.

A key piece in the presentation that certainly stood out (if nothing because model Garrett Neff was making a few in the audience feel self conscious about their “big-bonedness”) was a tan suede “military jacket” matched with a pair of medium blue selvage denim pipe leg jeans. Chic, simple and elegant, the pieces embodied the spirit of the collection.

Spurr isn’t going anywhere but up. Bergdorf Goodman’s Mens fashion director, Tommy Fazio, will be joining the brand as its first president and Simon Spurr is one of the 10 finalists for the 2009 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award. The young designer trained at Ralph Lauren’s Purple and Black Labels as well as under Yves Saint Laurent’s Hedi Slimane. Spurr is an American brand that’s designed by a UK designer and made in Italy; you get that classic Americana style but with European tailoring.

Inspired by the flirty fashion of the 70′s mixed with morrocan ambiance, Kimora Lee Simmons launches Moroccan Kiss, a sultry, sexy and romantic collection for Spring 2010.

Infused with the inspiration of traditional opulent Moroccan style and contemporary western design, this collection emphasizes 1970′s references of dramatic jeweled toned dresses, bold and chunky necklaces, mesmerizing patterns and acids washes juxtaposed with today’s sexy silhouettes: luxurious draped dresses, laced blouses, sequined leggings and cropped outwear with gold embroidery.

Depicting the feminity of this romantic collection are the 70′s Morocco, but a bit modern, sexy, beachy. “The colors are very steamy and romantic, smoldering” said President and Creative Director, Kimora Lee Simmons. “I love color, the whole sultriness of it, the opulenceof the people and the culture.”
