We learned late august via LiveFashionWeek that Isabeli Fontana was being shot for the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2010 campaign by Patrich Demarchelier and styled by Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele in the Hamptons in New York, so here is the ad!

Chapurin Spring Summer 2010 Collection

Saturday October 3th, 2009 – Carrousel du Louvre – Salle Lenotre
Nymphs are being Igor Chapurin’s inspiration for his Spring Summer 2010 Collection. Light is going down, perceptions are changing. Heart starts throbbing. The nymphs are coming. They bring along their emotions, beauty and sensual energy. Traces of Nymphs are to be seen in each culture and each people’s history.
In this Collection Igor Chapurin mixed soft lines and clear-cut silhouettes. Assymetric dresses and blouses. Aboundance of drapes, transparent corsets trimmed with lace, sensual corseted body-suits worn with suede bottillons create a confident look.
For the coming Spring Summer the designer used natural fabrics, georgette, crepe, organza, gazar. Fabrics finished with rose-gold and black nickel plates, fabrics decorated with metal paillettes.
The collection ‘s basic colors of women’s nude skin, brand’s favorite beige, chocolate and cream-brown are effectively added by the flashes of white, black, lilac, mustard, mustard yellow, different shade of green.

Tsumori Chisato Spring Summer 2010 Collection

Saturday October 2, 2009 – Le Carrousel du Louvre – Salle Souflot
A cage with a bird drawed on the back of the runway and Lene Lovich’s Birds song as a soundtrack sat the mood of the show. Romantism, another era is the inspiration for Tsumori Chisato.
The palette color was almost the same as the Fall Winter 2009 collection, pale pink, yellow and blue forming a rainbow for some outfit but in a good way. Such on this printed pijama shirt with a printed voilage ruffled plissed skirt.
A succession of looks were jumpsuit with harem pants shape and blousy top, sometimes with rainbow stripes or trefles a quatres feuilles print. The ruffles were redondant in the collection expecially present in the colar going up to the chin.
On Anouck Lepere a rabat shirt with a ruffle skirt and liberty print belt
Some of the looks had a stripped red and cream pattern which reminded me of the pattern that were wearing the sans culottes during the french revolution in 1789.

Again for this season Tsumori Chisato showed she can use sequins without overcharging it like on this multi layered ruffle mini skirt.
Closing look, a printed voilage dress with sequins details
The shoes were an important part of the collection, giving the final touch to these almost “princess manga looks”. We even spotted a famous stylist searching desesperately for a pair in her size backstage.

Frida Giannini Receives the Design Star Honoree Award

Last night in New York, Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini received a Design Star Honoree award at the 26th annual Fashion Group International Night of Stars dinner held at Cipriani Wall Street.
Giannini received this prestigious industry accolade from award winning actor James Franco and Grammy award winning artist Mary J. Blige.
The evening included a cocktail, awards ceremony and seated dinner for over 500 fashion industry guests. Giannini was joined for dinner by Franco and Blige in addition to other friends including award winning music producer and artist Mark Ronson and Hollywood actress Evan Rachel Wood.
Mary J Blige wore a Spring/Summer 2010 black light caddy long halter gown with jeweled leather harness, black high heeled sandal with metal embroidery and black suede clutch with silver metal detail.
James Franco wore a Fall/Winter 2009-2010 black New Manhattan tuxedo with white fitted dress shirt, black silk tie and black leather lace up loafers.
Mark Ronson wore a Fall/Winter 2009-2010 black optical lurex single breasted Bowie evening jacket with diamante lining with white dress shirt, blk tie, New Manhattan tuxedo trousers and black patent lace up loafers.
Evan Rachel Wood wore a Fall/Winter 2009-2010 one of a kind burgundy gown with antique gold fringe detail, Cruise 2009 burgundy patent cage buckle high heeled shoe and Fall/Winter 2009-2010 gold python clutch with bamboo tassel detail.

The 2009 Angel Ball for Cancer Research

The Empire State Building lit the NYC skyline lit in red and purple last night in honor of the 2009 Angel Ball to honor Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research. Denise Rich hosted a star studded celebration at Cipriani Wall Street that included cocktail reception, dinner, show and a live auction hosted by Brook Hazelton.
Featuring music by DJ Cassidy, the gala’s star-studded lineup of performances include Academy Award and Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson, Robin Thicke, Estelle, British imports Blake, and other surprise guests.
Presenters, segment hosts and celebrity attendees included Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Beth Ostrosky Stern & Howard Stern, Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kotb, Natalie Cole and Sherri Shepherd, Bar Refaeli, Alan Cumming, Alina Puscau, Ashley & Jessica Hart, Benny Medina, Buzz & Lois Aldrin, Clive Davis, Crystal Hunt, Deborah Norville, Debra Lee, Diane Passage, Dori Cooperman, Dr. Stephen Nimer, Erica Reid, Ivana Trump, Julie Henderson, Russell Simmons, Karl Wellner, Lorraine Schwartz, Marty Richards, Michelle Herbert, Natalie Cole, Ofira Sandberg, Patricia Field, Paula Patton, Paula Zahn, Sheikh Hamdan, Star Jones and Swizz Beatz.

Yohji Yamamoto Spring Summer 2010 Collection

Friday October 2, 2009 – 155 rue Saint-Martin Paris 3eme
Feathers as eyebrows above bright squares of red, Blue, green around the eyes. Yohji Yamamoto present a rock n’roll Geisha for his Spring Summer 2010 Collection.
Deconstructed jacket to the point that it becomes a long sleeve bustier, the classic white shirt is deconstructed as a bustier as well. We saw some tight biker jackets with puffy shoulder, another one with short sleeve, worn on a leather mini skirt with an asymetrical pleated cotton side.
Many of the models were wearing biker gloves. The shoes were lace’s up classic “Yohji” but with a three inch heels, or lace’s up three inches wedge. Metallic details at the extremity of the shoes, sometimes worn with a pair of gym guetres . A black tight vest with puffy shoulder was worn with a long skirt which had a cut up from the top of the leg revealing a jarretiere, with studs.
All the clothes were very feminine, revealing the women’s body which is usually not the case in Yohji Yamamoto Collections. During summertime it’s hot so the long to the ground shirt dress (with puffy shoulder) is worn with a pair of black short shorts, accessorized with a punk stud cuff.
The last part of the show was surprising, first came a couple of black and white looks with holes in fabrics followed by a series of models wearing what we would think at first to be a classic liberty print.
It was a liberty print with small red, lemon and blue flowers, but it has holes all over it. It added even more romantism to the collection.

We also like the diagonal stripes on harem trousers. The looks were accessorized with dipped gold or black camelia flowers placed around the neck and wrist. On the color side, shades of lemon, violet.

The Gaspard Yurkievich Spring Summer 2010 girl hit the runway Sunglasses on (Yurkievich for Linda Farrow), and like one of the habilleuses said backstage “the catwalk is blue like a blue swimming pool, it’s summertime!”. Thight high socks worn with corail, turquoise sandals and even with a slouchy pair of open tow suede boots, it’s summer time but a shill one. Sleeveless tops and dresses, studs on caramel mousseline top.
Floral sequins mini dress and even some mother of pearl on hats.
Effortless silk flower printed blouses worn on assymetrical skirt.
And to feel like we are all in vacations in the middle of summer, Gaspard Yurkievich invited singer Dani Siciliano to sing live.

Dai Fujiwara presented a very interesting Issey Miyake Spring Summer 2010 Collection. New fabrics, new prints and new shapes. This new direction was inspired by the north, the east, the West and South. We can easily catch on the ethnic inspiration.
The nine first looks were very sober, pure lines like this tri-color Khaki green Beige & Cream patchwork coat.
The following dresses came hand-painted with flowers using a traditional Kyoto technique. At the final all the models walked around the square usual Issey Miyake Runway with a song from Joanna Newsom.
