There are two types of shows: the ones that are just classic runways and the ones that are staged, to the point that the girls transport you to another universe.This is what happened one season ago with Junko Shimada Fall Winter 2009 Collection. The “mise en scene” pieces were very poetic, even romantic. This season, the Shimada Spring Summer 2010 ‘girl’ took us on a gamut leaping romp through “Angels and Dust“; a universe with big square televisions on the floor and where rainbows aren’t farther away than a woman’s essence. She is a Sensual Rebellious Pocahontas from another planet.
She walks fast, stops, poses in the middle of the runway. Her angelic nature keeps her floating on cloud nine (figuratively and literally). If you were to stare at her face to face, you would see her feet are definitely not on the ground, thanks to the black pantent plexiglass sole pump.
She wears see through dresses, with fringe, tan natural suede mixed with embroidery and beading. She loves precious metals, gold leather leggings, gold mini skirt, gold sleeve pieces, rounded necklaces. In closing the show, she appeared in a succession of black, anise and turquoise printed silk hooded dresses.

Karl Lagerfeld Spring Summer 2010 Collection

Sunday October 4, 2009 – Espace Ephemere Tuileries – Jardins Des Tuileries
Karl Lagerfeld jumping playing guitar was featured on the Spring Summer 2010 show invitation, a Calligraphy based on Karl’s Numero 10 Homme Magazine cover. Was the show going to be music oriented? The set was made of stacks of white and light grey amps, all featuring either “Karl”, “Lagerfeld” or sometimes both. “The set is important, it reflects the mood of the show” said the designer backstage. There is always “a fil conducteur” in Karl’s collection from the first look to the last one. The show started with a succession of black, black and white looks with a pair of pleated shorts. Some of the outfits were featuring music silver deeped accessories such as on Karlie Kloss a Karl Lagerfeld jumping mondino caligraphie as a brooch. A silver guitar to close a bollero jacket, an army of Guitars on belts and Karl jumping featured again on an oversized clutch.
Repetto is collaborating again with Karl Lagerfeld for the Spring Summer 2010 collection, high heels and flats went on and off during the show, most of them were silver, black metallic or had a silver detail. Zippers, trompe l’oeil proportions, Karl signature’s high colar and even two jackets whose hem were folded up to the underarm.
The final part of the show featured structured dresses with what we thought at first were metallic overlapping silver designs, in fact the silver part is made of leather. A zippered mini dress with puffy short sleeve and silver leather overlapping work on Anja Rubik. Sharp lines, geometric angles, and new proportions with the high-waist shorts. A collection that reflects the designer personal dressing code translated for his Spring Summer 2010 girl.

Dice Kayek presented his Spring Summer 2010 Collection “Istanbul Contrast” at the Ritz Bar, as part of a preview of the Turkish season in Franceand the exhibit at the Grand Palais “From Byzantium to Istanbul”.
Istanbul the magnificent, the most oriental of European cities and the most western city of Asia. An intersection of cultures and traditions, the city was the theatre of cultural upheaval and change from Byzantium to Constantinople. Today Istanbul is the emblem of modern Turkey, a creative hotbed defined by its diversity, history and architecture.
Inspired by its symbloic edifices, Dice Kayek’s Spring Summer 2010 collection transcribes the city’s mix of modernity and tradition.
Through translating the city’s life, each dressis inspired by spices, sweet delights, tastes, scents, and the fascinating lights if the Bosphorus embracing the city at night.
One feels in the rich lace embroidery the magical beauty of the winter garden at the Dolmabahce Palace, while metallic embroidery suggests the Galata Bridge, a symbol of contrast that links the Egyptioan Spice Bazaar in the old city with modernity, luxury and opulence.
