Thursday October 1st, 2009 – Carrousel du Louvre – Salle Soufflot

Hiroko Koshino’s second show in Paris was inspired by nature, and in particular by the metamorphosis of insects. The unique prints are treated as macro-photographic clos-ups of insect wings, giving them a fututistic aspect but without losing the sense of poetry so important to the designer. The prints are worked through a diversified colour palette from black and white through vivid shades.

The structures of the clothing are based around skilful fabric folding, more precisely on the level of the shoulders. Light woollen garments, taffeta and muslin, also traditional japanese woven paper that is specially treated so it can be used for clothing, an inovative material which create a canvas effect.

This collection is an ode to nature, based on Hiroko’s imagination, her vision of the “butterfly’s chrysalis, all dealt with with a bright contemporary twist.
