Monday October 4th 2010 – Espace Vendôme – 7 place Vendôme
Take the all the tenets of classic femininity, then give them an avant-2011 twist and you’ll get the Giambattista Valli Spring Summer 2011 Collection. With a computerized runway backdrop, Giambattista sent a bevy of glammed up girls down the runway. The sixties were in the air; trapeze dresses and cropped trapeze jackets reminded us that the Valli girl is tomorrow’s retro. Blush, beige, and cream hues are mixed with color-blocking pink, fuchsia and orange tones, giving an almost “prêt-a-party” feel. Draped see-through chiffon dresses, ostrich feather coats, leopard and baroque swirl prints get topped with “Luigi Scialanga for Valli” silver mirror plaque jewelry. The latter paired well with the collection’s flat silver plaque shoes. Come next spring, jet setters and party seekers will be hard pressed to seek a more energetic selection of clothing, lest the label says Giambattista Valli.
Giambattista Valli will be editor in chief of A magazine curated november issue.
