Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2011 Collection

Tuesday January 11th 2011 – LVMH Tower – The Magic Room

Tuesday was Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2011 Presentation day at the top of LVMH’s NYC tower. Julie de Libran, who designs Louis Vuitton Pre-Collections and Cruise Collections welcomed the press in the Magic Room. The Magic Room is located at the top of the tower and is two floor high, It has a predominantly blue tone created by the color of the treated glass and reflections of the sky and affords views all the way to the Hudson River. In the middle of the collection’s set-up Julie de Libran explained that she took inspiration from an exhibit of Louise Bourgeois’ last fabric works in Venice. She described the Pre-Fall 2011 Louis Vuitton woman as a traveling woman, always on the move referencing the 1920’s and thirties. The designer pointed out the easy to wear classic shapes such as a tailored suit, a tweed vest (number 6) (that is a clin d’oeil at one of the spring 2010 best seller vest). Fabrics are luxurious, from cashmere to a silk Sprouse printed dress (number 16), shearling, a long sweater even features a detachable feather collar (number 33) matching the feather costume jewelry earrings and necklaces.
The Spring 2011 beaded Galucha Clutch is making a cameo in tri-color aubergine beige and blue (number 27), while other clutches and cabas feature a new patchwork made of Monogram Canvas, Monogram Empreinte and Calfskin the we can’t wait to know more about.
