Y-3 showcased its Fall Winter 2011 Menswear collection at the Maison des Métallos in Paris. Y-3 took it to another level with Models on treadmills overlaid with backdrops of outdoor screenings projection.
Celebrating its 10 year joint-venture, Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto launched a limited edition collector’s line of Y-3 high and low-top sneakers, styled in somber and graphical tones with grid-nettingoverlays. Debuting alongside the Y-3 clothing line during New York Fashion Week, this new sneaker collection is perfectly timed to herald Dirk Schönberger’s recent arrival to the brand. We can hardly wait to see these kicks in action this week, as Yohji is certain to put on another wonderful show.
Y-3’s new men’s collection takes inspiration from nature and the concept of escape, including blazers, trench coats, parkas, and high boots in tones of army green. Japanese print sre seen on bomber jackets and button-down shirts, worn with knitted leggings or slouchy, sarouel-style sweatpants. Accessories include printed sneakers, white Chelsea ankle boots, and wool trapper hats.
This Is My Dream, a documentary by Theodore Stanley, follows Yohji Yamamoto during rare, intimate moments of a Y-3 collection in the design, casting, styling, and show production process. In the short film, Yamamoto opens up about his inspirations, his love of music, and his aesthetic vision.
The presentation also included an installation of Yohji’s greatest footwear designs to date, from the avant-garde to the forerunners of sport-style. The installation served as a reminder of the breakthrough concepts brought to reality by Yamamoto and adidas—as well as a symbol of much more to come.
“There are many exciting activities planned for this year to celebrate 10 years of the collaboration including launching a limited edition footwear range and opening the first Y-3 store in Conduit Street in London for March 2011″ “We are also focusing on the autumn/ winter 2011- 12 womenswear and menswear show in New York next month.” said Dirk Schonberger, creative director of Adidas’ sport style division.
