Proenza Schouler Fall Winter 2011 Backstage Beauty

Wednesday February 16th, 2011 – 330 West Street

Frederic Fekkai lead stylist Paul Hanlon showed again that you can have your hair done without looking overdone. Last season he created an electro “a la hitchcock” chignon. This season Paul added extensions in order to create a heavy thick hairstyle. His inspiration came from photographer Edward S. Curtis’ portraits of American Indian women. To recreate this look he began a very low braid, which he then tied with a black elastic, leaving the last loop halfway pulled through.

Hair: All products by Frédéric Fekkai. Part the hair slightly off center and apply Strong Hold Volume Mousse to the front of the hair, from the start of the part to just below the ears. Apply Anti Frizz Silkening Creme and Color Care Anti-Fade Top Coat and iron the front pieces to seal in a shimmer. Pull the hair back into a low ponytail and tie the end into a slight knot. Spray Oceanique Tousled Wave Spray heavily to diffuse the hair. Finish with Sheer Hold Hairspray.

Makeup: All makeup by MAC Cosmetics. Prep the skin with Mineralize All-Over Lotion and Studio Sculpt Foundation. Contour the cheeks with Sculpt Cream in peach and taupe and Cream Colour Base in Seaside. Fill in the brows with a matching eye shadow to give the illusion of thickness and line the eyes with a Lip Pencil in Stone. Apply a conditioner to the lips and some foundation.
