Surface To Air Celebrates New York Store Opening

Wednesday September 7th, 2011 – Surface To Air Flagship - 27 Mercer Street

New York Fashion Week kicked off with the opening of Surface To Air ‘s first US store. The brand, launched in Paris in 2000, found its perfect spot in Soho, matching perfectly with its french edgy DNA. With a long list of art collaborations that includes shoes by Leigh Lezark or Kim Gordan, last night was the celebration of the mini film directed by STA’s Jeremie Rozan with Kid Cudi. In the short film, Cudi wears a new leather motorcycle jacket, the Kid Cudi Fire Jacket V1, designed by himself for Surface to Air. which is available at the store. Designed in collaboration with architect Frederico Masotto, the 2500 square-foot space carries the French label’s full line of both men’s and women’s collections. If you can’t make it to NYC, don’t worry, the online US store opened over the summer and yes, the Leigh Lezark V1 pumps are available.

Joining Surface to Air’s Jeremie Rozan, Aldric Speer, and Dorothee Loermann to toast the launch were friends from the art, fashion, design, and music worlds, including: Kid Cudi, Heron Preston, Eve Therond, Olaf Breuning, Douglas Lloyd, Aaron Young, Lisa Anastos, Kate Schelter, Anne Pasternak, Genevieve Jones, Daniel Arsham, Becka Diamond, Kim Gordon, PJ Ransone and more. Following the store opening, guests proceeded to B BAR, located at 40 East 4^th Street, to continue the celebration and dance to 3am with performances by Chromeo, A-Trak and Busy P & Friends.
