Versace has officially given a piece of itself to the world. On November 17, more than 300 H&M stores will give everyone the opportunity to own a Versace piece.
“It was the perfect evening, so glamorous and special. I loved celebrating the launch of Versace for H&M here in New York, an iconic city in which to showcase this iconic collection. Now I cannot wait for it to finally reach stores and be available to the world”, says Donatella Versace.
Versace is a legend, but behind the glamour, carries a tragedy; the murder of its founder, Gianni Versace, in Miami on July 15th 1997. At the time, the italian brand symbolized unchecked excess, a world where the parties never end, a sexy luxurious lifestyle surrounded by celebs, supermodels and princess.
For the collection’s front row, ionic Gianni Versace supermodels, Eva Evangelista and Helena Christensen looked just as beautiful as they I’d 20 years ago in Richard Avedon’s photos for Versace. But Donatella does not live in the past. Newcomers to Versace’s inner circle include Supermodel Coco Rocha, Blake Lively, Jessica Alba, Sofia Coppola, and Zoe Kravitz, all wearing Versace for H&M or Versace Vintage.
Outfits showcased on the catwalk were bring together different styles from the Versace archives. The long-awaited collection for H&M features such iconic pieces for women as draped metal mesh dresses, silk-crêpe dresses with gold buttons, multi-coloured panel print dresses and the classic Versace studded leather jacket, while menswear saw sharp suits, printed sweaters, print shirts, and studded leather jackets and trousers.
The show was followed by an after party which featured exclusive performances by Donatella Versace’s special guests, Prince and Nicki Minaj.
