Friday March 2, 2012 – Musee Rodin

The hair is smooth, glossy and pulled into a ponytail, like that of dancers on the ballet stage. The models have to be “beautiful, fresh, young” — according to the brief the ready-to-wear design studio has given to the show make-up team. For the foundation, Diorskin Forever Light Beige, Skinflash n°005 Lumière Universelle and Diorblush Peachy Keen n°553. For the eyes: 5-Color Eyeshadow n°743 Grège, Diorshow New Look n°090 and 5-Color Eyeshadow n°774 Golden Savannah (for the latter, you’ll need to remain patient, as it doesn’t hit stores until mid-August). The lash is black and the lid glows, lightly enhanced with gold. On the lips: Dior Addict Extrême n°316, whose name, ‘Incognito’, indicates the natural effect it gives. Backstage, the girls are having fun.

They’re like dolls getting made-up, having their hair done, dressed — and accessorized. The new versions of the bags work with the colors of each outfit. Diorissimo is in shaded mink and lurex tweed or vinyl tweed, the houndstooth done in embroidered leather. Miss Dior also plays with dual tones and fur fringing, knit stitch ‘cannage’ and sheepskin paired with alligator. As for the Lady Dior, it’s a mix of mink and astrakhan. New item of the season: the oversize clutch, like a giant flap-front envelope. In dresses of leather and silk, in long skirts and Bar jackets, the models are primped, lined up, and ready for their star turns. Lights out. Music. Action.
