With an acclaimed spring 2012 debut, the socially conscious label Maiyet comes back with a sophisticated Fall 2012 collection. Creative director Gabriella Zanzani drew her inspiration from the bold, cage-like architectural works of Santiago Calatrava. She sees the Maiyet woman as mysterious, captivating and mischievous, exuding the qualities of her other inspiration: the owl. With shoes made in Italy, clothes made in New York or India, Maiyet’s beautiful philosophy contributes to global diversity and emphasizes the rarity of every piece of the collection. The artisans’ work embellished these savvily cut silhouettes.
The collection included a couple of appealing leather numbers such as a midnight leather panel shirt with embroidery and a black leather embroidered inset tunic dress. Outerwear delivered a short shearling bubble coat, an elegant cocoon coat, a sleek midnight hand felt appliqué short military coat and a black cape sleeve princess coat with hand woven lining. Aside from the luxurious practical daywear, there were also two evening dresses including a midnight appliqué deep V evening dress. Accessory-wise, the bags are as beautiful as last season, this time with the Gehry bag making a comeback in pony hair. The jewelry made in Colombia, Kenya or India completed the looks.
