Maison Michel Spring Summer 2012 Collection
March 20, 2012 by J.T.
The refreshing 2012 Spring-Summer collection by Laetitia Crahay, Artistic Director of Maison Michel and Head of Accessories & Jewelry for Chanel, bursts with joie de vivre. Laetitia Crahay toys with her own aesthetic and classic headpieces to set an optimistic, quirky tone, establishing strong style values that nonetheless remain rigorously faithful to her signature high standards.
This credence ripples through her clashing straw trilbys, lace veils and boaters, as well as paint splattered rain hats reminiscent of Jackson Pollock’s drip paintings.
Technical prowess is again exhibited in the trickle-effect grosgrain that drips over wide-brimmed straw trilbys, and a water-droplet effect that quenches visors and hoods.
Retracing the playful clambering of childhood, climbing ropes in bubblegum pink or lemon yellow run wild over a simple, unadorned trilby or a boater felt hat, and are intricately knotted to form colorful new-look headbands.
Laetitia Crahay continues in the teen spirit with a fun selection of hats cut from vintage denim. One-of-a-kind pieces.
Inevitably the collection is cheekily capped off with bear, bunny and cat ears in lace or knit. Pale straw boaters are swathed in sections of stitched grosgrain and destroy tulle.
This season’s colors range from pearl grey to navy blue and from cherry red to rose beige.
And for its second season, Maison Michel Baby presents a children’s collection of straw boaters, rain hats, animal ears and headbands. Irresistible.
