Cartier Celebrates New Tank Anglaise Watch
April 24, 2012 by J.T.
Cartier unveiled the new Tank Anglaise watch last week on location, at the Orangery in London’s Kensington Palace. The “Version Anglaise” of the iconic Tank is available in rose, yellow or white gold, and also with brilliant-cut diamonds.
“There have been several Tanks from the beginning of the last century, but there was no Tank Anglaise, so one day we said, We have to correct this” said Arnaud Bamberger, executive chairman of Cartier U.K.
The Tank watch, Cartier’s most iconic timepiece since its birth in 1917, still remains one of its most prestigious and recognised pieces spanning the last century. Following in the footsteps of the TankAméricaine (1980) and the Tank Française (1996), the Tank Anglaise was a logical progression – a watch to correspond to each of the three historical temples of the Maison.
Charlotte Dellal, Kelly Hoppen and Poppy Delevingne were one of the lucky guests that got a preview of the new Tank Anglaose. Poppy, is also the face of the upcoming Tank Anglaise campaign also featuring her father,Charles, and has been shot by David Bailey. Other ambassadors who have been shot by Bailey for Cartier include Lucy Liu; Andrea, Charlotte and Alice Dellal; Jordan Scott; Hoppen, and Rupert Everett. The Tank Anglaise launched this month at selected boutiques and will launch at further locations from June.
