Saturday June 29th, 2013 – Tennis Club de Paris
At the Tennis Club de Paris, Kris Van Assche put out a brilliant Dior Homme Spring 2013 collection that somehow perfectly blended business casual with beach chic; the kind of clothes that took the best of Mondrian and made it corporate smart for the streets of Miami.
Playing with geometric shapes, KVA incorporates right sided angled rectangles into sharp, short sleeved shirts that look fit for the office-Mondays or just casual-Fridays. Suit shorts, metallic air-bubble heeled sneaker-inspired dress shoes with steel toe tips blend sportswear with dress-wear. Sleek sunglasses, crisp shirts, and mirrors created an uber chic effect that reminded one why the brand Dior built deserves recognition to stand on its own. Above all else, the lightness of the clothes felt fit for the everyday man needing a sense of relief from stiff clothes and ties. As KVA puts it :
“Above all I wanted to build the human and the fun element back into a collection. Menswear felt desperate for a sense of fun, something light. At the same time if something is light, it doesn’t mean it isn’t serious in its intent.”
