Monday October 30, 2013 – Downtown LA
KENZO‘s Creative Directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon celebrated the launch of their new Kalifornia bag with a dinner and party in downtown LA on Wednesday, October 30. The event was hosted by Carrie Brownstein, China Chow, Gia Coppola, Rashida Jones and Riley Keough.
Guests were invited to an intimate candlelit dinner party at an indoor skate park in downtown LA and dined on a French-inspired menu created by Root of All Food. The West Coast atmosphere was heightened by the sounds of DJ Total Freedom.
During the dinner, guests were treated to a performance by four of the biggest and world class female skateboarders Nora Vasconcellos, Eliana Sosco, Lizzie Armanto and Vanessa Torres, who skated around the diners and subsequently down the dinner table itself.
Dinner was followed by an after-party, where DJ Total Freedom was joined by Los Angeles based vocalist Kelela who serenaded the revellers with her futuristic, forward-thinking, controlled vocals. Partiers carried on into the early hours of the morning listening to Chicago-based producer and DJ Brenmar.
Kalifornia is relaxed, yet precise, blending KENZO’s French atelier craftsmanship with Humberto and Carol’s Pacific Coast nonchalance. The soft, deconstructed design is punctuated by two “K” zip details flanking either side of the bag that double as pockets, an ode to the ultimate biker’s Perfecto.
