With a boardwalk lined lagoon, Tommy Hilfiger never ceases to amaze with his over the top sets. This time he’s whisked his audience to somewhere between St Barth’s and Aruba, showcasing his sun-kissed wavy haired island girls as a lesson in effortless beauty.
As an avid lover and resident of the exclusive Mustique island, he recreated the legendary Basil’s Bar, where Princess Margaret, Kate Moss and Mick Jagger have famously sipped on a few cocktails. On the runway, 70’s vibes, but with Tommy, classics are always elevated with a modern twist.
The oxford shirt becomes dresses and are adorned with multicolor crochet helms and cuffs. Rasta colored hats, tropical prints suits and patchwork sundresses are casually worn with crochet sneakers mules. Crochets were almost on every look, while these modernized nude retro patches military denim jackets had embroidered beads and whipstitched borders. Today the hot piece was the limited edition runway lion varsity silk bomber jacket, seen front row on the brand campaign star, Behati Prinsloo, and already available on tommy.com.
Backstage guests were queuing up to try out Tommy’s latest hi-tech social media sensation, this time a multipoint-camera device, aptly dubbed the “Twitter Halo”, that captured 360-degree videos of models and celebrities.
Still, the biggest splash was literally after the finale walk, when the bevy of bikini beauties led by Gigi Hadid came out for a second bow in the middle of the lagoon.
