Donna’s a fan of baseball!
April 19, 2010

Donna Karan on the field during batting practice before the New York Yankees game on Friday, April 16.
The designer, who’s DKNY brand recently inked a long term sponsorship deal, was scene mingling with friend Alex Rodriguez, Yankees manager Joe Girardi and Joba Chamberlin on the field before the game. AJ Burnett was overheard talking to Donna about the players passion for tattoos and her interest in a Zen lifestyle.
Can we expect to see Donna’s influences at the stadium?
We think a juice bar in the DKNY Lounge would be a nice alternative for baseball fans!

RIP, Alexander McQueen
February 11, 2010

Vogue editor Anna Wintour has issued a statement on the passing of Alexander McQueen:
“We are devastated to learn of the death of Alexander McQueen, one of the greatest talents of his generation. He brought a uniquely British sense of daring and aesthetic fearlessness to the global stage of fashion. In such a short career, Alexander McQueen’s influence was astonishing — from street style, to music culture and the world’s museums. His passing marks an insurmountable loss.”
André Drawings at Colette
February 5, 2010

Thursday February 4, 2010 – Colette
On the street André is known by his graffiti-artist alter ego, Mr. A, and for his “Love Graffiti” concept. André moved from the street to galleries with much hesitation. After proactively changing the nightlife of cities such as Paris, New York, and Tokyo, and giving new life to his characters through multiple collaborations, he is now ready to share his quieter moments, which he draws on scraps of paper or in notebooks, constantly filling them, but rarely sharing them with others.

This is a more personal and intimate activity, far from the commercialism of art. This selection were influenced by the psychedelic love imagery of the 60s and 70s, along with his visual memories of the comic books he read as a kid.

In André’s world, drawings have a special currency, like billets-doux for sharing love. For him, the only way to escape the smothering blanket of capitalism, inside or outside of the art world, is in things you can’t buy: love and generosity.
