Jill Stuart Fall Winter 2009 Collection
September 8, 2009

Monday February 16, 2009 – New York Public Library
“These girls are rock icons, I see Francoise Hardy, Anita Pallenberg or even Madonna in my girls” confessed Jill Stuart to Journalists after the show. Leather, lace, velvet mixed with masculine reference re-transcribed in a woman world just like at the Fall Winter 2008 Collection. Ruffle dresses. Leather pants, accessorized with black mother of pearl long necklace.

High heels cropped boots, panama hats topped with flowers define this new Fall Winter 2009 Jill Stuart girl. Romantic and decided.
we love the look 7 (Rock N’ Roll black lace mini dress) worn by Tanya Dziahileva. The cocktail dress is now worn with a hat and wool gloves, as seen on look 9 (drapped bustier dress)

The Rock N’ Roll look is redundant via the leather jacket and pants but even the more feminine ruffle or flower printed dresses have this Rock Star spirit with a romantic touch. It’s all about the attitude pointed out Jill, the gloves and the boots finish the Rock N’ Roll look, once the Embellishment flower dress is worn with flats it can become another girl.

Plenty of possibilities with this Jill Stuart Fall 09 Collection, cocktail dresses, Rock N’ Roll look or romantic style, we couldn’t choose one, we love everything!

Diane Von Furstenberg Fall Winter 2009 Collection
February 26, 2009

Sunday February 15th – 4 pm – The Tent at Bryant Park -
If the current recession is any indicator of the willingness of shoppers to hold back on spending, they might have a harder time doing so after viewing DVF‘s upcoming Fall 2009 Collection. Set against a desert backdrop (not too unlike Hermès’s Spring Summer 2009 cactus and sand runway show), Diane brought to life the Fall collection with a nomadic theme. The message? Your clothing, if layered properly, can be as soft and snug as your home.
When asked about this upcoming season’s inspiration, Diane explained “This collection is called ‘nomad’. Wherever she goes, she belongs. Her clothes are her friends.” Diane continued to explain that much of the inspiration was drawn from her travels in the Middle East. She eloquently mentioned “The inspiration for this collection was also to give women real clothes, comfy warm pieces. The colors are drawn from the desert tones.” And if we’ve learned anything from the whole Snuggies phenomenon, comfy clothing is a formula for success.
From the first look, we were treated to soft leopard prints, large Gobi-desert puffed hats with flowery ruffles, mocha tone tops, layered sweaters over evening dresses, all giving the effect of slim, elongated silhouettes. Accessories such as bright orange & violet coral necklaces and ruby vermilion clutches added delightful bursts of color against the backdrop of autumn colors.

Julia Restoin Roitfeld was sitting in the front row next to Katharibe McPhee (in Fall Winter 08 DVF), Purple’s Olivier Zahm was chatting with Paris Vogue’s Carine Roitfeld, while Carlos de Souza and Tatiana Santo Domingo were watching Fabiola Beracasa taking pictures for her Fashion Diary for Interview Magazine. We were pleased to see Marisa Berenson again after seeing her at the Patrick McMullan 20th anniversary with Interview Magazine few days before. Long time Diane’s friend Loulou De La Falaise was here well. Natalia Vodianova came also to support the designer.
