Diane Von Furstenberg Spring Summer 2010 Collection
September 24, 2009
Sunday September 13th, 2009 – The Tent at Bryant Park
“Looking into Antiquirty … for effortless beauty” Diane on Furstenberg.
“Rising like a phoenix, the Spring Summer 2010 DvF woman is a modern myth, the queen of the desert, a true adventurer“.
Seems familiar? The Fall Winter 2009 DvF collection painted us a “Nomade” girl, wherever she goes she belong as long as she has her friends with her ( Diane sees cltohes as friends).
Last summer she was a goddess, now she is a rebellious princess with pieces of gold in her hair . The Fall Winter 2009 DvF girl had plenty of layers on her, she is now wearing cotton voile, chiffon animal multicolor dresses. An Oasis paint as runway backdrop, we are already transported in DvF Spring Summer 2010 world. Diane talks about antiquity but the woman she dresses is from 2010, “her girl” wears a wrap dress with a Tee shirt under.

Master when it comes to dress women, Diane showed more accessories this season. Bracelets, necklaces, clutches, bags… these neon stripes wooded bracelets were on every lips after the show.

The first look was wearing a bathing suit and sunglasses, quite the best moment to remind the crowd that DvF launched a line of sunglasses .

One of our favorite looks were a desert yellow macrame beaded dress worn by Abbey & a blue anatolia embellished chiffon dress. Almost all the looks are dresses and yes these dresses are also everyday working looks said Diane backstage, “you can wear a dress with pieces of sequins & the right jacket, you won’t look overdressed to go to work.”

Diane is so in love with Oasis right now that she even has one on her skirt.

Why Rachel Zoe Loves DVF
August 31, 2009
In tonight Rachel Zoe project we will get to see Rachel Zoe visiting Diane Von Furstenberg studio to get a sneak peak of the Fall Winter 2009 Collection.
Diane explained “This collection is called ‘nomad’. Wherever she goes, she belongs. She eloquently mentioned “The inspiration for this collection was also to give women real clothes, comfy warm pieces. The colors are drawn from the desert tones.”
Womens loves DVF because like Diane pointed out, it’s real clothes. We saw beautiful looks on the runways but sometimes it’s most likely not wearable and frequently very expensive. With Diane Von Furstenberg collections it’s different, your runway dream can definitely come to reality!

Fashion E-Commerce getting bigger
August 6, 2009

The Denim industry is seeing a significantly change when it comes to sell online. Denim brands such as Replay, Guess, My Lovely Jean and Le Temps des Cerises are expanding their online operations to get the new type of client that has left the classic retail world for the virtuel one.
While overall economic conditions remain challenging, a recent report from Forrester Research shows e-tailers are benefiting from a steady migration to online shopping. Online apparel sales in Western Europe are forecast to grow from 13.14 billion euros, or $18.92 billion at current exchange, this year to 19.88 billion euros, or $28.63 billion, in 2014.
When My Lovely Jean founders David, Gregory and Gary Pariente established their first brand, American Retro, seven years ago, they were skeptical about online shopping . Pariente brothers are no strangers to the fashion world, their dad and uncle founded Naf Naf the first ready to wear sportwear chic accessible affordable fashion french brand.
“The global recession will hit online sales less hard than other channels as increasing numbers of consumers shop online to find better prices and save on overall costs,” said analyst Victoria Bracewell Lewis in the Forrester report, titled Western European Online Retail and Travel Forecast, 2008 to 2014.
While he wouldn’t disclose targets for the European business, e-commerce sales in the U.S. and Canada jumped 38 percent last year.
Brands also are looking to online sales as the ideal platform for capitalizing on editorial coverage.
Le Temps de Cerises said it wants to give those surfing its site the ability to buy products seen in the press, eliminating the time delay between the offer in store and the products presented in fashion stories in magazines.
The unveiling of My Lovely Jeans e-shop coincided with an editorial in French Vogue. “Because of Vogue, we had an instant phenomenon about our sales online” said Pariente.
In the US the online retailing world is helped by many new ways of communication and reach more clients they couldn’t have been able to reach without paying big in advertising.
You can not step in into twitter and not notice the presence of Diane Von Furstenberg‘s Twitter account twitter.com/insidedvf . The Belgium born designer promote her name & brand on the daily basis via twitter, with her facebook page, youtube page youtube.com/user/insidedvf, doing giveaways and by blogging via the insidedvf blog. Diane Von Furstenberg has launched her online store and is also available online via the majority of department stores that sells online such as Saks, Bergdorf Goodman … also on Luisaviaroma and NET-A-PORTER.COM.
Another player in the online world is Max Azria along with Lubov Azria which use the same new way of communication as DVF. Via Max Azria twitter twitter.com/bcbgmaxazria you’ll be the first to know what’s new and hot within Max Azria multi-brand company. You’ll know which celebrity worn Max Azria Collection, BCBG or Herve Leger. Brands have seen how important it is when a celebrity wear one of their product. “this is the only part that brands can not control, once a celebrity is seen with a specific dress, this dress will be sold out nationwide in a heart beat this is today’s reality” confessed Stylist and TV reality figure Rachel Zoe.
Azria also organize giveaways just like DVF, publishes editorials, blogs which at the end give to the brand an accessible, modern and open image.

The Giambattista Villa Barbie was wearing a dress that we would see any girl with, we also liked the Malandrino one: the most american french Barbie.

Lutz Barbie was wearing our favorite look from Lutz Fall Winter 2009, The Karl Lagerfeld‘s Barbie’s had the Cabaret Repetto shoes but no fur helmet . The Castelbajac‘s Barbie looked a bit too Martin Margiela inspired while the Ungaro Exteban Cortazar‘s Barbie was all the way Emanuel Ungaro Fall Winter 2009.

Diane Von Furstenberg Will Get You Shaded

Diane words of wisdom for Fall Winter 2009 are “Wherever she goes, she belongs” we also believe that the DVF’s girl needs a pair of sunglasses where she goes!
After launching a successful line of handbags and acessories Diane Von Furstenberg is adding eyewear.
The designer teamed up with Marchon Eyewear to develop and distribute a collection of sunglasses and ophthalmic lenses
“Wherever she goes, she belongs” we believe that the DVF’s girl needs a pair of sunglasses!
“I’m pleased to reenter the eyewear market and revive the successful business I had in the Seventies, Sunglasses are all about two things: glamour and protection,” Diane said.
“I haven’t been out in the street without wearing sunglasses since I was 19. They make me feel glamorous and they protect me from dust and the sun. And prescription glasses are incredibly important for women. It is a true friend, something very close to you that you need to see or to read, something you depend on. It’s more than an accessory, it’s a necessity.”
DVF’s friend Marisa Berenson might share Diane thoughts, she was wearing sunglasses all week long during Paris Fashion Week.
Here is Marisa Berenson that we saw at Dior Fall 09, wasn’t she in perfect adequation with the sky and the France flag?

The line will feature a retro-inspired and modern shapes. The collection will retail for around $150 to $175.
“As I continue to have more and more shops, it’s nice to have a one-stop shop that has everything, but I’m going about it slowly,” von Furstenberg said. “It’s not about putting my name on things but making sure every product category has a reason to be.”

“Be The Woman You Want To Be”
“Your Clothes Are Your Friends”
“Your Closest Friend Is Yourself ”
“Absence Is To Love, What The Wind Is To Fire, When It’s a Small Fire The Wind Kills It But When It’s a Real Fire It Intensifies It”
We now know why Whitney looked sad when we saw her backstage at the DVF Fall 09 Show

Designers Heart Barack Obama
January 14, 2009
NEW YORK — President-elect Barack Obama continues to be a source of inspiration for designers.
With next week’s presidential inauguration shaping up to be one of the most anticipated national events in recent memory, more than 10 American designers have created official merchandise to support the festivities as part of the “Runway to Change” initiative.
The new collectible pieces include tote bags by Diane von Furstenberg and Tory Burch; T-shirts by Zac Posen, Donna Karan, Juicy Couture, Narciso Rodriguez, Derek Lam, Rachel Roy, Gerald Matthews and House of Deréon, and a scarf by Alexander Wang.
The “Runway to Change” initiative launched during Obama’s campaign featured special merchandise by more than 25 designers to benefit the campaign. “It was a big success, and got a lot of positive feedback from designers and also the general public,” Presidential Inaugural Committee spokesman Brent Colburn told WWD. “Heading into the inauguration, we thought it would be a wonderful thing to incorporate the talent of some of these designers in the inaugural celebration. We reached out to them, and asked them to participate in this collection.”
Proceeds from the sale of the items will support the costs of the inauguration, which are expected to be in the same region as the $45 million 2005 inauguration.
“This is the most exciting political moment of my lifetime,” said Zac Posen.
Tory Burch added, “President-elect Obama is an incredibly inspirational leader. I am excited to see the direction he and his team will take our country in the coming years, and look forward to supporting them in every way I can.”
Among the pieces is a printed DVF natural cotton canvas tote for $70, featuring a heart, the word “Obama” and terms such as integrity, intelligence and passion in the designer’s script. Rachel Roy, meanwhile, created a gray T-shirt emblazoned with the slogan “I [heart] my president” for $45. “When designing the T-shirt for the inauguration I wanted the simple yet concise slogan — ‘I love my president’ — to convey the faith we have in Obama to bring about the change he represents,” she said.
Donna Karan’s Urban Zen T-shirt, meanwhile, is printed with the words “Inspire Change.”
“I was hoping this could be a communication tool that would connect people to inspire change,” Karan said. “It’s everyone’s responsibility to access their resources to call to action.”
The collection is available at the Presidential Inaugural Store at 625 E Street Northwest in Washington through Jan. 21. It will also be available at pic2009.inauguralcollectibles.com through February.
