Merci x Gap

September 9, 2009

Wednesday September 9th 2009Gap store at 54th street – New York City

Gap has a new trick up its sleeve this fall. The trusty purveyor of blue jeans and khaki pants has teamed up with Merci, a chic, Parisian lifestyle boutique, to open a pop-up shop in New York City, called Merci Gap. For one month only, Merci Gap will occupy the 500-square foot space next to Gap’s flagship store on 5th Avenue.

The original Merci is the brainchild of Marie-France and Bernard Cohen, the founders of Bonpoint (a children’s clothing company they sold in 2003, giving them seed money for Merci). Merci is a “concept shop” stocked with unusual housewares, fashions, perfumes and even fresh flowers. All the proceeds from the shop benefit Accueil des Sans-abri, a non-profit that helps Madagascar’s homeless. (All profits from Merci Gap will go to various children’s charities).

Get on the boat! South Street Seaport was the place to be on Tuesday April 28th.

H&M has celebrated the Matthew Williamson with H&M Spring Summer 2009 Collection on on the Majesty, a 30,000 sq ft boat. The boat was crowded with celebs and models including Chanel Iman, Helena Christensen, Mary-Kate Olsen, Daria Werbowy and more. We spotted Cecilia Dean wearing leather and Rodarte shoes “you know me I won’t miss a Grace Jones performance and I love Matthew” the visionaire goddess said walking in.  We also met Kelly Killoren Bensimon almost joy jumping letting everyone know that her birthday will be held at “The Gate” on friday May 1st and warmed everyone to come “it will be my party, I would love Grace to come!” said the real housewife of  New York City.

Julia Restoin Roitfeld confessed that her mother would have loved the event “my mother loves matthew and Grace Jones is of her idole, they worked often together when Grace was engaged to Jean-Paul Goude”.

Grace Jones finally showed up around 11 am descending to the dance floor in a clear glass elevator, wearing a cape and a mask the shape of a butterfly.

The 80′s icone performed 4 songs  “Slave to the Rhythm”, “Pull up to the Bumper“, “La Vie En Rose”,“Williams’ Blood” and a track from her new album “Hurricane”. Patricia Field, Grace’s close friend was one of the other spotlight of the evening, dancing and singing whatching her friend performing.

We arrived at the Bowery Hotel around 10 pm after the Eres + Vogue event . The party was happening on the Hotel’s second floor, we ran onto Georgina Stojilkovic and Kasia Struss who were having some supermodels fun. Adam Senn from “the City” was hanging out with models buddies, Erin Lucas was playing billiards with MTV buddy Samantha Swerta. At the same moment Katarina aaka “Kat” was at the bar talking to a girl very seriously, was she talking about Adam? Was this scene a MTV set up?

Eres x Vogue Cocktails + Spring Summer 2009 Swimwear Collection First Look

February 13, 2009

Wednesday February 11th – Eres 621 Madison Avenue – NYC. Eres and Vogue with hosts Amanda Brooks and Celerie Kemble celebrated Vogue First Look with cocktails and a special preview of the Eres Spring Summer 2009 Collection.

We arrived when Tinsley Mortimer left, the store was packed, the only persons moving were the two Eres models. We rushed to the bar to get a drink, a withe wine Sauvignon Santa Rita that we LOVED, tasted like a very very good apple juice (I know there are no relations between apple and white wine).

Eres is a classic when it comes to swimwear, it’s basically the Rolls of the bathing suit. We particularly love the Dallas style (one piece swimsuit in peau douce, in rayon x light yellow – photo 4) , the Mouna ( Top in poeau douce) with the Niagara (Brief in peau douce, amiral navy blue – photo 7), the Road/Mercury (Top and Brief in peau douce, in Espadon beige – photo 5). This “peau douce” material which means soft skin in english is really nice to wear, it’s lie a second skin.

The great thing with Eres is that can choose a different top size and bottom size, so let’s say you’re Pamela Anderson they will treat you like a queen! it is also the other way around. You can also choose any top with any bottom.

Patrick McMullan 20th anniversary In Interview Magazine Party

February 11, 2009

February 10 2009 – Elaines 1703 Second Avenue , New York City

We just came back from the “Patrick McMullan 20th anniversary in Interview Magazine” Party. For those not in the ‘know’, Patrick McMullan is one of the most well-known American celebrity photographers of the late 20th century and probably one of the nicest photogs you’ll ever have the chance of encountering. Tonight at Elaine’s Restaurant held the soiree in his honour, along with Interview staff, celebs and friends, all to celebrate his 20 years of amazing work. Marisa Berenson flew from Paris just to be there for the fete, mentioning to a partygoer “I came especially to celebrate Patrick’s work, I ‘m also here to attend my friend Diane Von Furstenberg‘s show this Sunday”.

Talking about DVF, Olivia Parlermo was quite the gorgeous ray of sunshine this evening, cuddling in her boyfriend’s arm, German model Johannes Huebl. Iman, Stephanie Seymour, Mary Boone, Patrick McDonald, Rick and Kathy Hilton all came out in style for their good friend Patrick. Kimora Lee Simmons arrived later in the evening, in a gorgeous taffeta beige bustier dress along with her handsome hubby Dijimon Hounsou. Waris Ahluwalia came with french artist Andre who just re-created the new Belvedaire Vodka bottle. Even the Contesse LuAnn de Lesseps was relishing in the Euro-American conversations, elegantly jumping between french and english with other socialites.

Never a moment off the clock, the night ended with Patrick stepping outside of Elaine’s doing what he does best: photographing ‘the moment’ and enjoying the good company of friends.

Stars and Style: 5th Annual Fashion Rocks

September 6, 2008

The fifth annual Fashion Rocks on Friday drew one of its most stellar crowds in years. In Fashion’s corner: designers Vera Wang, Max Azria, Tommy Hilfiger and Valentino, as well as stylish stars Charlize Theron and Hilary Swank. Representing Rocks: Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige, Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Leona Lewis and dozens more. But even among all the star power, the one performer whom everyone at Radio City Music Hall was dying to see was Justin Timberlake. Apparently, Timberlake is the sort of man who reduces women to monosyllabic speech.

“He’s hot,” gushed Elizabeth Banks.

“Justin’s the bomb,” said Blige. “And very, very cute.”

Duffy, however, was interested in Rihanna; their first run-in was the perfect storm of fashion and rocking. “We met while shopping at Barneys,” Duffy said.

Once inside, Timberlake didn’t disappoint, nor did the rest of the all-star lineup. Beyoncé crooned Etta James’ “At Last,” walking into the front row to bring James to her feet for everyone to see. Lynyrd Skynyrd and Kid Rock collaborated on “Sweet Home Alabama,” and Debbie Harry and Fergie sang “Call Me.”

Denis Leary made for an affable host, and found fashion an easy target. “Naomi Campbell has a fragrance called Mystery,” he said. “The only mystery about her is where she will hit you with a cell phone.”

Afterward, the “Gossip Girl” crew and the marquee musicians walked across the street to the Rainbow Room, where Timberlake and Kid Rock danced to Michael Jackson on the banquettes until midnight.

The following night, Alexander Wang corralled the fashion crew to a basement space in Chinatown, where Erin Wasson and Alice Dellal hosted a party for the designer that drew ODMs (that’s off-duty models) like Behati Prinsloo, Julia Stegner and Noot Sear. Wang began the night in a black Hooters T-shirt (“We tried to go there after the show, but they wouldn’t give us our reservation, so we went to McDonald’s instead,” he said), but soon stripped down to one of his signature gray tanks and joined the hordes dancing and sweating up a storm, waiting for Foxy Brown’s much anticipated set. Finally, at 11:45 p.m., she took the stage in the designer’s hot pink minidress, telling the roaring crowd, “They put me in jail, and my cell was full of Alexander Wang.”

Turns out Brown was celebrating more than Wang’s collection; it was also her birthday. “When he asked me to perform and told me it was going to be Sept. 6, I said, ‘You know what? I’m going to give you that!’” she laughed after her half-hour set. But that’s all she’s giving. Brown won’t be out for any other designer next week. “I don’t whore myself out for fashion,” said the rapper, who’s attended shows for Zac Posen, Chris Aire and Sweetface in the past.

And though this was her first performance since her release from jail earlier this year, Brown didn’t suffer from any stage fright. “I’m a beast on the microphone,” she declared, as a VH1 television crew filmed her for her upcoming reality show. “I was more nervous about busting my ass in these 6-inch Yves Saint Laurent heels!”

Louis Vuitton Naturally Creative 2005 Exposition Aichi

September 5, 2005

Louis Vuitton will take part in this wonderful adventure. The participation of the world’s leading luxury brands in the Aichi Exposition is a logical and historical act.

The early years of Louis Vuitton are inseparable from the evolution of transportation. Throughout the industrial revolution, the House adapted its creations to the demands of the modern world and to the invention of steam engines, liners, aircrafts, and cars.

In 1851, three years before Louis Vuitton created its first truks, the first world Exposition in history celebrated the wave of modernity in London.

Visitors were astonished by the sight of new machines announcing the arrival of a new era.

As a creator and inventor of its time, Louis Vuitton took part in important World Expositions ever sinceheld in Paris 1867.

Today Louis Vuitton is seeking inspiration from nature.

A pure white light reveals Monogram flowers inside the French Pavilion. A few meters from the entrance lies a display built like a passage glows softly.

The facade is entirely covered with sea salt plates created in partnership with Salins Group, a leading producer of sea salt in Europe.

This Louis Vuitton “island” is designed and conceived by Caravanserail Exhibition Design Studio. This display is a technical innovation.

Inside, visitors find themsleves in front of a floating monolith of images that are infinitely reflected in large surrending mirrors. Cast into an audiovisual universe created by Marc Heymann, the visitor discovers Louis Vuitton’s sense of responsability by traveling around workshops, logistic centers and stores. Louis Vuitton requires quality at all levels, for its products and also for its environment. Conscious of the impact of its activities on the environment, the house proposes new ways of creation in order to live in better harmony with the nature.
