Betsey Johnson Fall Winter 2008 30th Anniversary Show
February 4, 2008
A Betsey Johnson Fashion Show can not be a typical fashion show. When we arrived at Bryan Park we didn’t expect to enter the Tent and find a typical bistrot atmosphere, bistrot table with candles and bottles of wine. Tyra Banks was Chatting with Russell Simmons, Angela and Vanessa Simmons while Katy Perry was playing with her hearted glasses. The theme of the show was a celevration of the Betsey Johnson brand 30th anniversay. Even Chantal her first model was there and walk the runway with Betsey. The collection was a mix of vintage pieces and new creation. Betsey Johnson said: “we even had to buy some vintage pieces that I didn’t have anymore in my archives!”. The collection started with fringed leather jacket, mix-and-match pieces like a twill blazer, a suede wrap skirt, a zebra cardigan, Lurex leopard leggings, and a sexy stretch-denim catsuit. Johnson was surprised herself that her 30 years old ready to wear pieces didn’t age a bit “aren’t these 30 years old look so actual?!”. We agree and we loved the collection, and Betsey’s final cart wheel of course!
Jill Stuart present a very girly Joan of Arc for Fall Winter 2008
February 4, 2008
February 4th 2008 New York Public Library – Jill Stuart found her inspiration on “Joan of Arc” for her Fall Winter 2008 collection. We really loved all the looks, especially the military inspired ones because Stuart actually added a military touch to these very girly looks. How can we have a masculine touch without going over the edge and be able to keep a feminine look? The answer is in the Jill Stuart Fall Winter 2008 Collection. Stuart used slink of a navy jersey dress toughened up with a military touch of braid trim on the shoulder to the more buttoned-up chic of a schoolgirl blazer with an insignia. There was also the straight prettiness of a strapless party dress, and the cool, masculine/feminine look of a lean velvet waist coat. We particularly loved the Silk Blue Party Dress with military “high heels” Boots. What’s better than velvet, sequins, matelasse to remind us to the belle epoque of Jeanne D’Arc. Everything went like if the girls were coming from another century with Serge Gainsbourg “Requium Pour Un Con” on the background. Vanessa Carlton, Tyra Banks, Nigel Barker and Hillary Swank were camping the front row.
