Andre x Louis Vuitton Milan Sunglasses Party
February 26, 2010

Wednesday February 24th, 2010 – The Straf Hotel – Milano
On Wednesday night, renown Parisian graffiti artist André hosted Louis Vuitton’s first Milan Fashion Week party at the Straf Design Hotel. At the height of the fete, Andre decided to channel his inner “Terry Richardson” and do an impromptu photoshoot with some of his guests. Taking them to the top floor VIP room, he snapped party revelers sporting the latest Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 Sunglasses. From Meatpacking to Milano, this latest shoot at the Straf felt like a complete 360° after a similar LV photoshoot at the Standard Hotel back in September. And while there was a hint of nostalgia, the scene was undeniably chic with the who’s who of italiani società partying and posing for André’s camera. And if he can get Margherita Missoni, Giovanna Battaglia, Anna Dello Russo, DJ Bianca Gaia, Bianca Balti, & Paolo Stella to vogue it out in a pair of hot LV shades, how long will it be before we refer to him as “André, the photographer” and not just the artist?

Giorgio Armani 5th Avenue Store Opening Party
February 27, 2009
Wednesday February 18th 2009 – 717 5th Avenue – 8 pm
Giorgio Armani literally landed his world on fifth avenue. For the first time in the US all the Armani brands are reunited under one roof. We were amazed by the architectural structure of the store, “these stairs are amazing” said Molly Sims while going to the upper level. Unless other brand’s store the Armani store has a very New York spirit. The designer’s 43,000-square-foot store is another symbol of the strength of his business. Although the global economy has nose-dived since the designer’s announcement to invest here a year ago, Armani has no regrets. That said, mirroring the gloomy times, he decided to nix a post-opening bash complete with a runway show and dinner,The opening party.
The top floor was crowded with all the celebrities posing with Giorgio Armani, we ran into Victoria Beckham who’s the newest face of the Emporio Armani Underwear campaign.
See below our pictures of Ricky Martin, Molly Sims, Natalia Viodanova, Alicia Keys and Milla Jovovich that we met in the restaurant area.

Adam Senn from “the City” was hanging out with models buddies, Erin Lucas was playing billiards with MTV buddy Samantha Swerta. Patrick McMullan 20th anniversary In Interview Magazine Party
February 11, 2009
February 10 2009 – Elaines 1703 Second Avenue , New York City
We just came back from the “Patrick McMullan 20th anniversary in Interview Magazine” Party. For those not in the ‘know’, Patrick McMullan is one of the most well-known American celebrity photographers of the late 20th century and probably one of the nicest photogs you’ll ever have the chance of encountering. Tonight at Elaine’s Restaurant held the soiree in his honour, along with Interview staff, celebs and friends, all to celebrate his 20 years of amazing work. Marisa Berenson flew from Paris just to be there for the fete, mentioning to a partygoer “I came especially to celebrate Patrick’s work, I ‘m also here to attend my friend Diane Von Furstenberg‘s show this Sunday”.
Talking about DVF, Olivia Parlermo was quite the gorgeous ray of sunshine this evening, cuddling in her boyfriend’s arm, German model Johannes Huebl. Iman, Stephanie Seymour, Mary Boone, Patrick McDonald, Rick and Kathy Hilton all came out in style for their good friend Patrick. Kimora Lee Simmons arrived later in the evening, in a gorgeous taffeta beige bustier dress along with her handsome hubby Dijimon Hounsou. Waris Ahluwalia came with french artist Andre who just re-created the new Belvedaire Vodka bottle. Even the Contesse LuAnn de Lesseps was relishing in the Euro-American conversations, elegantly jumping between french and english with other socialites.
Never a moment off the clock, the night ended with Patrick stepping outside of Elaine’s doing what he does best: photographing ‘the moment’ and enjoying the good company of friends.

Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse Graffiti Launch Party
January 9, 2009
Louis Vuitton’s Stephen Sprouse Graffiti Launch Party was the place to be on January 9th. Fashionistas from all over descended on the SoHo boutique, from the upper echelons of the Upper East Side to the gritty streets frequented be many a fedora-wearing LES hipster. The Sprouse Party was divided into two parties: The über-exclusive SoHo Boutique fête and the more casual relaxed Dietch Museum gala. If you received the “Rose” coloured invitation, you were welcome to rub elbows with celebs like as Molly Sims and Brooke Shields at the SoHo boutique. If you were like us, you received the “Neon Green” invitation that got you access to the Deitch Museum party.
Once we arrived there was drama at the door. Turns out one of our entourage members forgot to RSVP to Louis Vuitton. Rather than go Donatella Versace crazy with fear that we were not all going to get in, one of us was able to talk to one the sweet PR girls at the entrance and resolve any discrepancies. The $20 helped too (just kidding!).
Off through the doors we all went, trotting in our casual chic wear (as was required per the invitation) : a little H&M top here, a little LV handbag there, some Louboutins shoes down below, all topped off with a vintage McQueen peacoat I snagged from a past sample sale find. My look was as street as could be but alas, not chic enough to make it to Page 6 (cue the teardrops).
Inside, it was a cornucopia of a Who’s Who in Fashion: Linda Fargo (Bergdorf and Goodman), Arlenis Sosa (Model), Agnyess Deyn (Model), Marc Jacobs and hubby Lorenzo Martone (if you have to ask, you’re on the wrong site), Pietro Beccari and Wife (CFO, LVMH), Yves Carcelle (CEO, LVMH), Patrick McDonald (Lifestyle Editor), Leigh Lezark (Socialite, Fashionista), Debbie Harry (Blondie), and many many more. In fact, there were more fashionistas, stylistas, celebistas (?) than one could count. Oh, and there was lovely artwork too! Who am I kidding: just like for fashion week, we attend less and less for the shows and more and more to be in the presence of celebs in the frontrow.
After taking a tour of the museum and 10+ glasses of champagne later, we knew it was time the StyleRumor entourage get on to the best part of the evening: the concert at the Bowery Ballroom. A mad dash to the coat check at the entrance and quick smoke outside, and we were on our way to seeing Debbie Harry belt out a couple songs in her full 50-60 year old glory. Whilst taking a quick drag outside, we noticed Phillip Blond behind the velvet ropes having a hard time getting into the Deitch. Turns out s/he’s (it?) has had enough plastic surgery done to actually make that him into a really fine she. The PR girls finally figured out the snafu and let him and his boyfriend in but by then everyone was leaving.
We jetted to find a free special Sprouse cab, hired to shuttle guests to the Bowery Ballroom. You could spot one a mile away just by looking for the Sprouse flower advertisement on the roof of the cab. With each cab filled, we spotted a semi free one down the block, waiting in front of a red light by Canal Street. We raced to the car, yanked open the doors and jumped right in all before one could say Balenciaga. As I sat in the front, I turned my head to see who the other two passengers in the car were and also to apologize to them for high jacking the extra free space.
Lo and behold, and to my amazement, I saw a familiar face in the eyes of one of the passengers sitting behind me. I queried him:
Myself: “Sorry about stealing your cab. That said, I know you from someplace, but I don’t know where.”
Mr. X: “Nope you probably don’t know me. I’m almost certain of it.”
Myself: “Nope, I do, I just can’t put my finger on it.”
Mr. X: ” Well, maybe you might see some family semblance between myself and Sprouse. You see, I’m James Sprouse, Stephen Sprouse’s cousin.”
Myself: Jaw drops. Eyes bug out. Q&A begins.
And let me add, that James Sprouse is one fine individual. Both he and his colleague hail from Wisconsin and Maine. Their demeanors were laid back, relaxed and overall extremely friendly, In fact, his kindness and eloquence was humbling whilst I asked my many pointed questions about Stephen Sprouse and how he grew to know him.
James painted a symphonic image of Sprouse’s many artistic influences whilst growing up. A key story he mentioned, which he wasn’t certain if Padilha’s book picked up, was Sprouse being influenced by James’ father, Stephen’s uncle. James’ father used to host the Sprouse cousins at their family home in Maine during the summer. It was at the time, while Stephen was still becoming the man we all grew to love and know, that James’ father used to draw pictures on the kids’ arms. Stephen readily enjoyed it, graffiting his arms with artwork, his name and anything that came to mind. It may be that that single family memory spurred the exuberant artistic creations that the art and fashion world have come to love today.
Our time conversing flowed like a smooth river on a hazy summer, despite the nasty cold weather outside the cab. When we arrived to the Bowery Ballroom, we stretched out legs and headed to the door as an ensemble. Whilst at the door, we noticed that they had already closed the entrance because too many folks were already inside. A LV PR girl came to us and directed our group to form a line behind the other revelers.
I shook my head in dismay, thinking “Geez, do you know who we’re with?”
I went back to the PR rep, poked her and said “Hi! I’m with James Sprouse, Stephen Sprouse’s cousin. Can we just go in?”
And instantaneously, like a deer staring into a pair of Mercedes Benz highbeamers, she excused herself, told us to wait and came shortly back to scoot us past the guard. As we coat checked our gear and headed into the Ballroom, we were dazzled by the amazing array of Louis Vuitton graffiti lining the entrance. After chatting up some more with Sprouse, we began to mingle with the guests on the dancefloor. Shortly after our arrival, we spotted Erin Wasson walking into the dance area, equally mesmerized by the glowing backdrop screen overlooking the stage area.
After sipping a quick Champagne + Chambord (you know how Mama likes it) we were immediately overwhelmed by the fanfare over Debbie Harry’s arrival on stage. In classic 90′s kitsch leotard & spandex gear with a Louis Vuitton Graffiti Bracelet ($1250+ USD, so save your pennies) Debbie began churning through Blondie classics such as “Call Me”, “Heart of Glass”, “One Way or Another” and more. Cute that at one point she said she could “Do this all night”. That was was said at song 4 of 5. Off-stage shortly thereafter she went and the crowd went back to its raucous self.
We cruised the upstairs and downstairs levels, dancing with other models and spotting the cute Louis Vuitton Graffiti T-shirt guys taking pics of the crowd (see below). Using a Polaroid insta-printer, folks could have their party pics digitally printed on the back of a Sprouse card. Cute!
We greeted Donna Karen, who came and left pretty late in the evening. In fact, I think Mama Karen was just there to pick up her daughter Gabrielle. She looked ravishing in her winter frock with a lovely lapis coloured scarf-throw. Towards the late evening we needed a drag but noticed that Erin Watson inaugurated the stage the new designated smoking area. We caught an awesome photo of her right before we lit up our old friend, Marlboro.
The night was getting old, and after seeing Niarchos Stavros do his Greek rendition of dirty dancing, we decided it was time to hit the hay. Unlike most of the other folks at the party, we actually have to get up at 9am to go to work. Alas, if only we had “I-go-to-work-at-5pm-because-I’m-Whitney-Port-and-I’m-in-The-City” lifestyle.
Party pics and more below. Enjoy !
Alexander Wang’s After Party Sweatier Than His Runway Show
September 7, 2008
Alexander Wang’s sweat-inspired runway show Saturday evening was clearly more than just a fashion statement: later that night in a basement space in the far reaches of Chinatown, Erin Wasson and Alice Dellal hosted a perspiration-drenched dance party for the designer that drew a crowd of his beloved ODMs (that’s off-duty models) like Behati Prinsloo, Julia Stegner and Noot Sear.
Wang began the night in a black Hooters T-shirt (“We tried to go there after the show, but they wouldn’t give us our reservation so we went to McDonald’s instead,” he said), but soon stripped down to one of his signature gray tanks and joined the hordes dancing up a storm around a mini, blue-lit runway, waiting for the much ballyhooed surprise performer.
She was worth every bead of sweat: at 11:45 p.m., Foxy Brown took the stage in the designer’s hot pink minidress, telling the roaring crowd, “They put me in jail for a year and my cell was full of Alexander Wang,” before rapping hits like “Candy,” “What’s Your Heaven” and “Hot Spot.”
Turns out Brown was celebrating more than her self-described “good friend” Wang’s collection: it was also her birthday.
“When he asked me to perform and told me it was going to be Sept. 6, I said, ‘You know what? I’m going to give you that!’” she laughed after her half-hour set. Don’t expect to see her all over the front rows in the coming days. “I don’t whore myself out for fashion.” And though it was her first performance since her release from jail earlier this year, Brown didn’t suffer from any stage fright.
“I’m a beast on the microphone,” she declared, as a VH1 television crew filmed her for an upcoming reality show. “I was more nervous about busting my ass in these 6-inch Yves Saint Laurent heels.”

Stars and Style: 5th Annual Fashion Rocks
September 6, 2008
The fifth annual Fashion Rocks on Friday drew one of its most stellar crowds in years. In Fashion’s corner: designers Vera Wang, Max Azria, Tommy Hilfiger and Valentino, as well as stylish stars Charlize Theron and Hilary Swank. Representing Rocks: Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige, Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Leona Lewis and dozens more. But even among all the star power, the one performer whom everyone at Radio City Music Hall was dying to see was Justin Timberlake. Apparently, Timberlake is the sort of man who reduces women to monosyllabic speech.
“He’s hot,” gushed Elizabeth Banks.
“Justin’s the bomb,” said Blige. “And very, very cute.”
Duffy, however, was interested in Rihanna; their first run-in was the perfect storm of fashion and rocking. “We met while shopping at Barneys,” Duffy said.
Once inside, Timberlake didn’t disappoint, nor did the rest of the all-star lineup. Beyoncé crooned Etta James’ “At Last,” walking into the front row to bring James to her feet for everyone to see. Lynyrd Skynyrd and Kid Rock collaborated on “Sweet Home Alabama,” and Debbie Harry and Fergie sang “Call Me.”
Denis Leary made for an affable host, and found fashion an easy target. “Naomi Campbell has a fragrance called Mystery,” he said. “The only mystery about her is where she will hit you with a cell phone.”
Afterward, the “Gossip Girl” crew and the marquee musicians walked across the street to the Rainbow Room, where Timberlake and Kid Rock danced to Michael Jackson on the banquettes until midnight.
The following night, Alexander Wang corralled the fashion crew to a basement space in Chinatown, where Erin Wasson and Alice Dellal hosted a party for the designer that drew ODMs (that’s off-duty models) like Behati Prinsloo, Julia Stegner and Noot Sear. Wang began the night in a black Hooters T-shirt (“We tried to go there after the show, but they wouldn’t give us our reservation, so we went to McDonald’s instead,” he said), but soon stripped down to one of his signature gray tanks and joined the hordes dancing and sweating up a storm, waiting for Foxy Brown’s much anticipated set. Finally, at 11:45 p.m., she took the stage in the designer’s hot pink minidress, telling the roaring crowd, “They put me in jail, and my cell was full of Alexander Wang.”
Turns out Brown was celebrating more than Wang’s collection; it was also her birthday. “When he asked me to perform and told me it was going to be Sept. 6, I said, ‘You know what? I’m going to give you that!’” she laughed after her half-hour set. But that’s all she’s giving. Brown won’t be out for any other designer next week. “I don’t whore myself out for fashion,” said the rapper, who’s attended shows for Zac Posen, Chris Aire and Sweetface in the past.
And though this was her first performance since her release from jail earlier this year, Brown didn’t suffer from any stage fright. “I’m a beast on the microphone,” she declared, as a VH1 television crew filmed her for her upcoming reality show. “I was more nervous about busting my ass in these 6-inch Yves Saint Laurent heels!”

Galliano no-show (and no-surprise) at SCAD Award fete
May 20, 2008
John Galliano in Savannah, Georgia? If the idea of the Parisian couturier and all-around over-the-top character in the Deep South seemed unlikely — well, it almost happened.
Galliano was scheduled to accept the Savannah College of Art and Design’s André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award Saturday night at the school’s annual graduate fashion show, but he canceled at the last minute. It was during a lunch for press, designers and other SCAD guests, held Saturday afternoon at college president Paula S. Wallace’s home, that word spread that the designer would not make the trip. The rumor was confirmed later in the day in a statement released by Olivier Bialobos, vice president of press and international public relations for Christian Dior. “John Galliano became ill last night and is not able to travel today to Savannah,” the statement read. The news was quite a shock, since, when it broke, Galliano was thought to be en route with Talley.
Indeed, Talley, Vogue’s editor at large, is the reason such a high-profile designer would be on the road to Savannah. Since receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award himself in 2000, and subsequently adding his name to it, Talley, who sits on the SCAD board of trustees, has set a gold standard for award recipients. He has drawn a list of major designers — Oscar de la Renta, Miuccia Prada, Tom Ford, Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs, all of whom accepted in person, and Karl Lagerfeld, who did not — not to mention media attention, to the school. Yet even among such a group of predecessors, getting Galliano there was a big deal. “It took us two years to plan to get John here because of his busy schedule,” said Talley, a few hours before the evening’s festivities began. “I’m devastated that he’s not here.” Of course, as Talley pointed out, this isn’t the first time Galliano was a no-show. In 1996, he famously stood up Queen Elizabeth II and then-French president Jacques Chirac for a royal state dinner at Buckingham Palace. His excuse? A panic attack.
Between British royals and heads of state, SCAD is in good company. And, as Talley sees it, it’s Galliano who’s missing out. “I’ve been coming here since 2000, and Miuccia Prada, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, no one has ever gone away without thinking this is the most extraordinary place. Savannah is the physical jewel of the south,” he continued, adding that SCAD had really rolled out the red carpet for Galliano, going so far as to book a gospel choir to greet his plane — which was missing the guest of honor, of course. “I know John would have loved it. We will bring him wonderful visual souvenirs.”
