Qasimi Homme Fall Winter 2012 Backstage

Sunday January 23, 2012 – BETC Euro RSCG

For Fall 2012, Al Qasimi references dark romance, Dutch floral paintings and religion. There was this duality between strong street and military references paired with romanticism. A quilted sweater opened the show, floral prints are splashed onto a sweatshirt, ties and shirts. Luxurious touches and finely tailored looks were given a casual treatment through the use of plaids with scarf-like prints. Precision layering was key and best exemplified in a long overcoat with fur trim on a sleek black suit number.

Less formal looks took precedence as the show evolved, with cropped jackets being worn as a cape over latex tees, floor-length kilts and shorts. Focused on oxblood, scarlett, navy, black and grey marl, the plaids are also revisited in see-through organza. This sportier side of Qasimi’s Homme was rightly balanced by the tailoring and layering. The baseball caps almost looked like jockey hats, worn right above the eyes reinforcing the dark, masculine attitude with a hint of “Gothicism”.
