When a designer starts branching out into accessories, like watches and the like, it usually is at the behest of some marketing team. But when Isabel Marant launched her watch line, she did it in memory of her father. After his passing, Izzy kept to wearing his watch, her most treasured keepsake, like the day of her runway shows … And even though the watch no longer works, Ms. Marant wants to make sure that her father’s presence is right by her when she needs him most, solemnly saying:
“so that he remains in my memories, like an extension of himself….a hand on my hand”.
The designer took inspiration from her dad’s square yellow gold watch, and created 50 limited edition pieces. The horologes are produced by JEM from ethical gold with a swiss made Quartz Clock Mechanism. On March 2nd, the watch will be unveiled at her Fall 2012 runway show. Retailing for 7140 €, the timepiece will only be available at the Isabel Marant Rue Jacob and rue de la Saintonge stores.
