Chanel Cruise 2012: Italian Dinner With Karl Lagerfeld

Sunday May 8, 2011 -Michelangelo Restaurant – Vieil Antibes

“A traditional intimate italian dinner” this is what Karl wanted … This evening was an “avant gout” to the Chanel Cruise 2012 show that will take place tonight at the Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc. It is, indeed, in Cap d’Antibes that Karl Lagerfeld chose to show the collection. Which, two days after the opening of the Festival de Cannes, is probably going to attract big names of the 7th art.

The Eden-Roc, where most of the “Tale of a fairy” short film has been shot was the perfect place to present the collection.  Although the theme of the show remain secret “we can only say that the place chosen has a relation with the collection that we will see tomorrow” confirmed last night one of the Chanel PR Girl.

Most of the short film cast were present at the dinner along with Karl Lagerfeld, Blake Lively, Alexa Chung, Vanessa Paradis, Clemence Poesy and about 200 friends of Chanel.  For the occasion, a part of the old city had been closed to the public in order to assure security. On the menu, carte blanche was given to Mamo, owner of Michelangelo. The only condition laid down by Karl Lagerfeld was that he wanted “a typically Italian dinner in a rustic village atmosphere”.

In the plates? Raviolini truffles, antipasto, wild fish line mixed with crunchy vegetables, miniature crates of berries, tiramisu and other desserts.
