Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2012 Menswear Collection

Friday September 9, 2011 – Chelsea Passage at the High Line

Earlier today, Tommy Hilfiger presented his Spring 2012 collection at Chelsea Passage at the High Line. The collection celebrated the evolution of prep, sewing an edgy twist into that uniquely American style. Classic American polos got a splash of bright, pop colors by way of nautical stripes.A reinterpretation of camouflage print made a huge impression. In shades of blue, red, or green, it was almost omnipresent throughout the collection. Whether the print was the centerpiece or just the accent, it could be found on trenches, a motorcycle suede jacket, a cashmere zip hooded sweater and even the shoes. Although using camo can militarize a look, it’s not at all what’s come to mind here. The shorts, the jeans and the pants feature striped seams, giving it a touch of tuxedo-ish luxury.

We’ve seen other designers transform a prim suit jacket into a quilted down jacket, but Tommy Hilfiger took the varsity jacket and married it to a blazer, creating an unique look that we’ll see probably everywhere for Spring. Clothing aside, accessories also made bold appearances. Next season, Tommy men will look forward to new necklace wallet, a modern nylon fanny pack with a TH monogram on it and a porte document. A new steel watch made it to the runway debut, featuring a leather protector.
